Candy vs Laser

Featured Replies

What's your thoughts on this then guys (and gals)? I'm sure it's white that I want but really don't want to make a mistake with this one.

My other half thinks the car lends itself more to the Laser white on the basis that the new design is sharp and modern, as is the colour. Reckons the Candy looks old fashioned and more of a faded yellow in comparison.

My current MK2 F/L vRS is Candy and I like the more subtle white that doesn't look like the paint used on a transit van  It appears to have a blue hue towards it and looks a little too stark for me.

If we can't agree, it might have to be Meteor Grey

Thanks in advance

I currently have a Candy White. I agree with you that there is something not quite right with the Laser and it's blue hue. I haven't seen it in the flesh to be fair but Candy is "cleaner" IMHO. I've ordered a Moon White Black Edition hatch which is a metallic white.

I have a candy, just ordered a laser!

Reason, I like the candy but have seen so many I want a change.

My lovely Long haired general isn't keen on the new colour, however as it's my domain (her words) she said "do want you want" which I think means I can pick the colour I want........or does it? ****

she said "do want you want"

As women are strange creatures I would put that phrase through google translate to ensure both parties understand very clearly what is intended or threatened...

Haha! Don't get me wrong guys...I will have the final say of course but it'd be nice to get some ammo to justify the fact that I'm right...again [emoji12]

I have seen Laser in the flesh next to Candy, and the Laser is very white in comparison.

But, stick a Candy white next to the Audi equivalent, and the Audi looks cream in comparison!

I was tempted by Moon White but couldn't see the benefit given the additional cost.

I ordered candy as I couldn't find any real life moon whites to see. A few months after I ordered I was going past the dealer and has to ask about something. Dropped in and in the inside showroom was a white wagon. I was telling my 4yo son that was what we were getting. The dealer said 'this is a moon white car'. I did a double take and had a closer look. On very close inspection you could just notice the metallic in the paint. Inside out of direct sunlight. Not next to a candy white I couldn't tell the difference. Later I saw a moon white in sunlight I could tell the difference. But without them next to each other, it is hard to tell. In isolation, you would not call candy white 'cream'. Side by side in direct sunlight it does look 'creamier' than moon (and I presume laser), but I wouldn't call it a cream white. Plus, metallic white is one of the hardest colours to paint match - so any chips/dings etc will cost more as more work is needed to get the match right.

Moon white looks fantastic, no doubt. But it costs more, is harder (and more expensive) to fix and unless you have a candy right next to it in side by side comparo, hard to tell a difference. Your call if it's worth it.

Edit point is candy vs laser unless they are next to each other, it's hard to tell (laser is like non metallic moon)

I challenge anyone to tell the difference between candy/laser/moon white when they are driving past at 80 mph.

My dealer recently had three varying models of Skoda in the three whites parked next to each other and unless your looking for it, none of them really stand out against another as being really different.

The Candy is a 'soft' white

The Laser is a 'bright' white

the Moon is a Pearl white sitting between the other two but closer to Laser I guess.

Personally, I like the Moon but the pearl finish is very subtle, you either need to be up close or view it in bright sunlight to really get the benefit.

I have Meteor Grey, go for it. :)

I have ordered a Moon White colour for my L&K Estate.

If you go to the Skoda website you can find a Demo car for sale in the used cars section. The car in question is just about £25,000 to identify it and is the estate version. There are some very good pictures although you can never tell exactly if the photo is giving an exact colour match but I was suitably impressed.

I went with Candy White because it was what the dealer had available and I didn't want to wait, I didn't really want to pay the extra tax on metallic and my last car was black so I thought white would make a nice change.

I love the car in it, but was at the dealer last week and saw a Meteor Grey one and it looked stunning.  If I'd seen it before buying mine, I'd have specced it and stuck the waiting list I think!

Also, what is it with white paint and flies?  I work in the country side and every time I leave the office, there are loads of flies walking all over my car!  They poop on it too, leaving little black dots.  It's either the colour or they like licking the Dodo wax...
