Citroen C4 Cactus

Featured Replies

I followed one today which was white i think and the panels were sort of chocolate brown. Odd colour but looked quite good.

  • I like it, at least some one is trying to be different. It's better than the "Oooh look the opposition has sharp edges and slash lights, we'll do the same" type of white goods being churned out at the

  • C4 cactus is grill. Saw one in the flesh the other day and it looked great. Modern, different, individual, funky, well thought out., clever and space efficient just like Citroens of old. If I could

There was one parked in town last week and it didn't look too bad, however the one thing that didn't look right was the roof rails, as they seem to have a sabre like end sticking out; looked wrong.

Bizarre looking car. But it mixes up quite nicely against the uniform a3/golf/1series/focus imitations. Makes a change to see something so 'out there' as the Cactus.

Don't actually mind them, theres one in the work carpark not a bad looking car

Saw a green one parked up round the corner from my sisters house yesterday - looked fantastic (and is owned by a 90 year old who probably doesn't care a jot what others think of him!)

I've seen a green one which looks great, and a black one which didn't suit it at all.
It just looked a bit shapeless and hid the airbumps.

As Richard says it's built down to a price. A friend has one (fortunately grey metallic, so the grey bubblewrap blends in), and I went for a brief drive.

My first problem was lack of driver legroom. Then I looked for the gearshift - it's an "automatic" but I still expected a gearstick. No - it had three buttons: F/R/N and flappy paddles. OK it works but was a shock to start with.

As a driver I looked for the heater controls and found I had to use the touchscreen which I felt I had to take my eyes off the road to use as opposed to putting my hand on a rotary control or whatever and keeping my eyes on the road. Personally I hated that.

The other shock was no rear window winders... It was like my old Fiat 127 with hinged back windows.

However I had to say it did seem to drive well but fortunately, for my friend, it's a Motability car so no residual value probs.

Footnote: The roof rails look like a 1980's accessory bolted to the roof..... However could be very useful if you turned the car over in the snow.... you could use them as skis!

It will be interesting to see just what the Automatic Gearbox is like, and the new suspension.

They are practically giving these away on lease at the moment

& £4,500-£5,000 off the current ones for cash money.

I have been looking at lots of vehicles to replace a Jimny while waiting to see the new Jimny and decide if worth waiting until in the UK,

wanting an easy in and out and easy to care for and abuse car, plus comfortable,

so i was ready to buy a much cheapness used Cactus having checked out a few in the past.  Oddly the very cheap used auto ones are not so plentiful right now,

but as it is the gearboxes are dreadful really.

Now thinking that one of these 2018 models will be a good buy a while after launch & once all the Demonstrators are on the market.

Having a 4 day test of an Arona sometime and will see just how that is.

Wonder why they ditched the door bumpers? It was a bit of a USP and probably works well at Tesco.

Indeed, Like with the Yeti / Roomster, Fiat Multipla & others,  unique appearance vehicles, practical, functional,  but not enough people bought them.

i would possibly stop using Disabled or Parent Children bays with the Bubble Wrapped Original.

Well maybe if it did not mean having to climb in the rear hatch when getting the doors open is impossible.

My Functional Dream car if it had about 120 ps & a good auto box and handling / brakes that were capable of some spirited driving.

And Bubble Wrap.

My wife has one (flair 100 diesel)

It's an entertaining little go kart

Quite loud other than when cruising

Marmite looks, personally I like it being different

Back windows and centre armrest are both a pain in the ***e and the touch screen is dimwitted

It's supremely comfortablefor a small car

It practically makes diesel 4.2l/100km is commonplace even driving around locally

The wife is extremely attached to it,so much so I scarcely dare drive it

This looks like an interesting addition to the Citroën range.

What's actually going on is in reality that's the new C4 cactus, the original one is also actually a c3 under the skin as well. The new forthcoming C4 cactus( or c4c as it will be called here) is much more mainstream and effectively a replacement for the conventional c4, which is getting axed,I suppose it's all in a bid to rationalise the entire range all of which is earmarked for replacement
