Electric windows mystery

Featured Replies

Hello helpful people!

Cutting to the chase, my driver side electric window does not work. Below is a short step by step of my electric window behaviour (front electrics only):

1. Unlock car, get in, close door (b^·^d)

2. Turn on ignition, at which point relay/switch noise from passenger side window area

3. No life from driver window whatsoever

4. Passenger electric window from passenger side switch does not work

a. However, it works after a short period of time

b. OR passenger window works down only from driver side then stops working from driver side at all

c. THEN passenger side electric window from passenger switch suddenly works normally!!!

5. All this time there is still no life in the driver electric window (although the door lock switch works)

I have tried replacing the driver side window switch unit but this made no difference. Also had a look at the wiring loom coming into the door but it looks ok.

I have a multimeter but don't really know where to start. Can anybody give me some advice? It's doing my heed in!

Cheers,

Mike

Control box in the drivers door ???

Would this only be accessed by removing the door card? What is its function and what does it look like?
