they have it listed and they insured me on mine which was delivered today at my dealers. Collecting it on Saturday and it's being Jabb'd next Friday.

All the best with new pride and joy

I just checked elephant....

I'd definitely recommend Supaguard/ Scotchgard for any but especially light upholstery. Also make sure you get as many extras as you can from the retailer- cleaning materials and the like.

All - it may be worthwhile using an old-fashioned broker if you want to compare companies. The online companies are not always the cheapest for any car which is that little bit out of the ordinary. You can always ask the broker who the insurer is on their best quote, and then approach that insurer direct if you want to optimise it by cutting out the commission. The broker will do the initial legwork of finding the most competitive company for your own circumstances.

No staff discount for you, Nikki?

As an addition to what Nick said above, brokers can sometimes be really good - they can provide cover notes at very short notice (if for example you let your insurance run out for 2 months and then have to try and renew the tax w/o knowing you're not insured *cough*) - and they will sometimes find a good deal - it all depends which insurance companies they search through.

Used to use one that was fairly local - they were good, put the customer first, but quoted me

ahem. Kind of puts my one day driving uninsured, without realising it had expired, into some perspective...:D

It was only an example! (of my stupidity!)

Insurance expired and I either didn't get a reminder or had lost it. Whooops! Went to the broker who sorted out best price, printed cover note there and then.

Have also let MOTs, etc, run out bigtime a few times without realising...

Although I was probably about your age when I did such sillies, Jason :D

My MOT on the 928 went over by about 3 months last year :o The car did virtually no miles during that period, fortunately.

 as long as I'm not the only one - I guess my age is my saving grace, eh?

Although I got sent plenty of reminders and junk mail, I just swore it expired two days after it actually did, without checking the certificate...

I assume that you are going to give it 1000m or so of loosening up in the 7 days before its transformed ? :p

I ask, because my last diesel Audi took at least 4000m before it felt like playing. Mind you if you ask nicely would Mike tune it now and then let you go back for a discounted remap in 10000m ?

Rob

Remapping involves using full throttle and high engine speeds, both of which should be avoided in the first 600 miles. And even with 6900+ miles on the clock (car, that is), I had to leave Jabba's premises while my car was on the rollers since my mechanical sensibilities were being offended by all the noise from the engine! :(

If my car ever ends up on rollers, Denis, I'd be outside too - would be too worried it would go flying through the wall! :D

Earlier thread: "I'd definitely recommend Supaguard/ Scotchgard for any but especially light upholstery" As one with "insider knowledge" I wouldn't pay extra for Supaguard if you're the sort of person who cares for their car. A weekly wash, monthly polish, regular hoover is all you need to keep it up to scratch. Supaguard is VERY EXPENSIVE for the results gained, espcially when you see the ones come back after a year with no tlc and they look like s..t and need cutting compound to remove the grime!

Regards to all,

Mark.
