Skoda Octavia excessive pedal travel

Featured Replies

I have a vrs FAbia but thinking of getting my sisters Skoda Octavia but when going for a test drive today the pedal when braking nearly went to the floor I checked the fluid to see if it was low but was ok looked pretty high in the brake reservoir it's not long been mot'd could it be expensive or could it be Just a case of bleeding the brakes any thoughts

I had a rapid as a courtesy car from a skoda garage and it did a similar thing. when stopped at lights i could progressively push the brake pedal to the floor. i told the garage about it when I returned it, but they didn't seem obviously interested

check the pad thickness if that is ok then check the master cylinder is it diesel or petrol if diesel may be the vacuum pump check also for leaks around the calipers  seals etc sounds like the master cylinder seals are worn good luck

Yeah it's a tdi pad thickness is fine what kind of money for that to be fixed anyone had it done

It could just be a case of needing to change the fluid and bleed the brakes to be honest. Even a tiny bit of air or moisture in the fluid can cause it to compress.
