Advice needed one majorly annoyed customer, what would you do?

Featured Replies

Hi ladies and gents,

I recently bought a BRAND NEW. Fabia vrs. I took delivery on 18/9/2014.

Since I've had the car it's been back twice and tomorrow will be a third time!!

First time it went back was because the tracking was out and the car pulling to the left, I took it into city ate Watford where I bought the car, I had to take the mechanic on a test drive. Whilst out on the drive I was told by him " the cars designed to pull to the left so they don't vere into oncoming traffic, you kill pedestrians instead" they were his actual words.

The service department had the car realigned and inflated the tyres to the right pressures!

So get the car back and on the drive back home the car drives straight but there is a knocking noise coming from the rear. So the car was booked back in for 2 days! Since delivery the sunroof creaked and generally made far too much noise for a brand new car.

So skoda had the car for 2 days, I was told that the knocking was broken bumper clips that had been broken in the factory at time of fitting. The sunroof was removed the runners lubed up and the car returned.

Well the sunroof is even more noisey now ( I couldn't test it at the time of collection because it was raining heavily) the knocking has also now returned.

At first I thought maybe I'm being a fussy customers but I've sold renaults and there rubbish cars but they still felt new 15-20k old. My cars done a 1000 miles and now my heat control panel is rattling too.

So basically I don't really know what I can do about the situation. I'm not happy at all and don't feel like I've got a new car. The shine has been taken away. I feel I should have stuck to getting a golf gtd!

Look forward to some replies. Sorry for the essays.

Adam

TBH I'd have a Golf GT TDi if I had the cash. So why did you get a petrol?

If you're unhappy, consider rejecting the car until things are fixed. Contact SUK and copy in your dealership.

Thanks for the reply. That should have said gti. I went for the fabia as it was 0% and a£100 a month cheaper.

I'm worried suk are going to be just as useless as my dealer to be honest. I fear I'll just be fobbed off again.

I would really like to know where I stand with rejecting the car full stop? I've had the car 4 weeks and have lost all interest in it.

Reject the car as it's clearly not fit for purpose, you shouldn't be having these many problems, especially with a brand new car which has less then 1000 miles on the clock.

I've come across these links and they should hopefully give you some insight into the process. Do let us know how you get on, I'm very keen to find out how you get on, as your experience could one day prove helpful for another user.

Sorry to hear this, Fabias do tend to rattle a lot unfortunately but I wouldn't blame you for seeking to reject the car in that scenario.

Especially so in light of the potential GTI deal. "Buyers remorse" is a terrible feeling.

I'm slightly surprised tho that a golf GTI would only be £100/month more than the Fabia. Presumably we are talking about a new golf and on the same amount of deposit?

At £100/month difference that's either a cracking deal on the golf, or I'm worried you got shafted on the cost of the Skoda.

If you are able to share some basic details of the deals we might be able to advise further.

Id reject it to. No point carrying on with it if your not happy.

Look into what rights you have, do some google searches. I think youll find you're within your rights to return the car and demand a refund if you have a certain (2 or 3?) unrelated faults within a certain time scale after buying the car.

Any refund will be pro rata based on the mileage covered, hence use you have had of the car. As the car is so new I'd expect the full refund though.

I can vaguely understand your wish to reject the car, but I have a feeling you will greatly struggle to do so.

The problems listed, as annoying as they are, are not ones that would deem the car not fit for purpose IMO. They are just little niggly issues that can be rectified by a competent dealership and their workshop.

Skoda UK customer services are very good, its the dealerships that vary in customer service.

Once your car has been fully sorted, contact Skoda UK for a form of compensation for the hassle it has caused it you taking your car back and forth.

Then just enjoy it! They are cracking little cars really.

I would be very surprised if you can reject the car because of a few rattles.

Annoying as it may be, it's just a few noises.

It's a budget supermini and is still fit for purpose with an odd noise or two... unfortuantley.

If you could have really got a Golf GTI for £25 extra per month I'm flabbergasted you didn't go for that.

Unless you paid over the odds for the Fabia, I can't work out the cost difference.

If you are not happy with your car then raise a Case No via Skoda UK CS.

Outline your issues and get a a Case No.by a returned e-mail.

Use the contact section on Skoda wecsite.

Copy your dealer on reply from Skoda UK...

I hope however, you will continue to enjoy the many good elements of owning the Fabia vRS.

I'd tend to side with OP re rattles and squeaks in brand new car - we do not know how  how pronounced they are and if bad can simply drive you crazy and you will not be able to drive the car at all. One can try to drown it out with loud music only for so long. Having said that, as a side effect you might become ever so slightly deaf and rattles will cease to be a problem ;)

Seriously though, what is the base line here? Is a new Skoda Fabia suppose to be a rattle box as a "budget hot hatch" and customers are buying such a car fully aware of this? Does SUK tell you in a bold statement somewhere "Expect certain amount of squeaks and rattles in a brand new car, it is budget Skoda after all!"??

The car should be PERFECT! It is NEW after all. My '57 reg Fabia had no rattles when I sold it at 70,000 miles.Ask Mrs awfabia, she thinks I'm obsessed with rattles!

No Skodas are second-rate, budget cars. You can expect this to be sorted. I suggest you request a loan car and test all the faults before giving back the loan car, even if it's raining they must allow it. The Dealer WILL need to fix it as their Customer Satisfaction Index depends on no complaints.

As above, keep up the pressure and keep us informed. Please.

P.S. I rejected a new Galaxy because of continued niggles and got a replacement with the extra of air-con!

chose the VRS over a Golf GTi ,,,,,,,ouch.

Now there have been some silly decisions made over the years, like when JFK said, "lets have the roof down today i wanna feel the air in my hair" or when paul walker pulled the handbrake whilst shouting to his mate "watch this!" .   But you sir made a bigger mistake.  sorry you bought the wrong car and i would assume the issues are being hyped up by your ****ed off mind which knows it and is having major buyers remorse.

I doubt any of these things are enough to reject the car, the car pulling tot he left is true to an extent, plus the roads are cambered to the left for drainage.  Sunroof noise may just be a sealing issue.

As much as i love my Vrs and i really do, there really is no comparison between it and mk7 golf GTi.

and yes they do have rattles, both of our VRS's do but nothing you would not expect from a hard suspensioned low-profile tyred car though.

Cars that are built in the Factory and aligned as Right Hand Drive and for the UK Cambers may have a slightly to the left bias.

'Pulling to the left', as the ones with a Faulty set up from the factory, and on some Monte Carlo & vRS that Skoda UK tried to deal with by fitting Replacement Pirelli Zero Nero instead of Dunlops & Continentals they fitted in the factory is a rather different thing.

& any Skoda / VW Factory Trained Technician as they like to refer to them as, should well know it.

and Skoda UK. VW UK, Seat UK & Audi UK Head Quarters in the UK know it just fine.

As do the European Head Quarters and the Factory Technicians.

Dealership might like to act Deaf, Dumb & Blind,  & Stupid,

but no need to let the Manufacturers take the 3 Monkey position.

I have had mine since December last year.  Also pulled to the left but ended up with an Eibach lowering kit and wheel alignment done by Awesome GTI.  Straight as an arrow now but not sure if that’s from the lowering kit or getting the professionals who know what they’re doing to do an alignment.

Also had knocking from the back but only when going over speed bumps which was cured with a lob of grease

Then came the dash rattle around the stereo, followed by the rear door knocking…  All of which depending on the day decided to make a noise with a few new ones along the way..

I think as Bossfox and  Jabozuma pointed out it’s a budget supermini that has it faults but if you can look pass them and give the dealers time to sort out the issues. Then I think you will like the car as much as I do….

4 years now that Skoda have built and sold them with many of the same lack of Quality Control faults.

They priced them at £17,000 plus, but we happen to be able to get them for less,

but some pay £20,000 plus.

So not really a 'Budget Model'.  and Dacia / Renault seem to take customer complaints more seriously on Cars that are Budget Models.

There is no need to accept anything sub standard and the Dealerships should make sure paying customers do not need to.

If the PDI Technician or the Work Shop Manager or Sales parson doing the hand over think faults are acceptable,

then be sure the Dealer Principal knows and Skoda UK HQ,

& let Alasdair Stewart Brand Director Skoda UK know.

He seems to accept Official Dealers selling poorly built cars in the UK.

If they want to build a Production line for a 'All New Fabia' from 2015,

then surely the Factory can get cars right in the last few months after 4 years of practice with the outgoing models.

If not then it is 'Buyer Beware' when collecting the new models,

lets hope 4 years on from going on sale, they do not keep being built with Snagging Problems.
