2015 F1 drivers & teams

The Hulk confirmed at Force India next year.

Dr Z was denying Maldonado had any talent, but in a pretty poor Williams he beat Alonso to the win in Barcelona fair and square.

Yes Venezulan oil buys his drives but credit where it's due I think.

The Williams was fairly well regarded as quite a reasonable motor in 2012 which underachieved that year due to the fairly naff driver line up. 2013 was a dog however and I dont think he managed to get that near the points most weekends. :D

If money was no object I'd have Alonso, Ricciardo, maybe Bottas as reserve. Bottas hasn't yet beaten a top class team-mate - they've all been a bit past-it.

Yeah, past it team mates, Massa and.... erm... Maldonado! Who would threw his toys out his pram every time he was beaten by the Rookie. You've given me an idea for a fun thread though.

  • Not sure how credible this is but former Ferrari president Di Montezemolo has confirmed that Alonso is leaving Ferrari at the end of the season - he is apparently leaving for 2 reasons: One, he wants

  • There's something quite depressing about seeing very good drivers potentially out of a seat next year and Super Maldonado Kart having a contract.

  • I think the media are focused on the wrong driver: all the rumours are about Vet and Alo, but I think the key is Ham, who has delayed his contract discussions until the end of the year: his current co

Thanks - now seen it in the press, updated main post.

Doesn't appear they've confirmed Perez though?

Ericsson > Sauber

really, how much budget has he got!!

Pathetic isn't it

The first question is how many teams will be racing next year; it might be that the FIA invoke the 3 car rule for the big 4 teams just to get decent grid sizes. Alonso in the 3rd Merc would be fantastic.

I've never been a fan of Button, brilliant when the car is perfect but seems unable or unwilling to drive round a problem.

.

I've been hearing that rumour too.

One of the biggest contra arguments is that you'd see the points even more packed out by the usual suspects. I mean, who actually believes that Morusia are better than Sauber, that black swan of Monaaco notwithstanding?

Thanks Matt - main post updated.

Hearing that Felipe Nasr has signed for Sauber - that would leave Gutierrez and Sutil without drives

Yeah confirmed now!

Climb on board the merry-go-round!

The Dr has been quoted saying Perez is staying next year, they didn't bother announcing it as it's just an extension that was already agreed. So FI's line up is sorted.

And it the rumours about Black Horse Rampant and Vermillian Male Bovine running 3rd cars next year are true?

Indeed, seen it in the press over the weekend, have updated main post.

Been muted yes, will it happen? Probably not.

So it's OK to have "some" teams running 3 cars but not others?

My immediate thought about 3 cars is "imagine if this year Mercedes, Williams and Ferrari had been running 3 cars; everyone else would have been struggling to get 7th place finishes".

Oh and BTW "talked about" is mooted; "silenced" is muted.

Grosjean confirmed at Lotus for 2015 - apparently Maldonado was confirmed earlier in the year.

Ferrari confirm Alonso leaving with 2 years left on contract...................................

................then confirm that Vettel is joining!

Off the merry-go-round goes - will this be Button's final GP do you think?

Will there be Teams running 3 cars & having 3 seats available?

with even more complicated team orders and jiggery-pokery ? I hope not.

do we know what number Vettel will have, seeing as he won't be #1 for next season ?

I guess Nico/Lewis will get the #1 for next year and keep their usual number "on retention"

Although much discussion, I can't see it happening IMO

Vettel will be racing as red 5.

Yes, WDC gets to wear 1 and keep his original number.

Is he standing by?

3 car teams arnt going to happen next year, they'd need Caterham, Marussia & another team to not be there next year, Sauber are good for at least next year and Force India appear to be secure for next year too. Can see any others going either.
