2001 Octavia Mk1 Elegance 1.9 TDI

Featured Replies

It’s time to sell ‘The Tank’. My first car and faithful runabout for 6 years now – It’s been loved and looked after to the best of my ability. I am getting rid only because I bit the bullet and ordered a Mk3 Octavia.

  • Mk1 Octavia Elegance Hatch
  • 1.9 TDI Manual (110)
  • Diamond Silver
  • Under 134,000 miles
  • MOT August
  • Service March
Comes with full service history (one minor service by me but otherwise dealer or VAG specialists) and most of the invoices from both myself and the original owner.

Included will be the original books and both sets of keys. I’m also happy to chuck in the Haynes manual and an Alpine iDA-X311 head unit and antenna booster that I have been using with it for the last 4 years.

You can read about the major problems it’s had by checking my posts on here. All of these are now fixed - mostly with the help and advice of fellow forumers.

The crucial question people are going to ask, cambelt (and water pump), was replaced along with the camshaft in late 2012.

Other major things it’s had whilst in my possession are:

  • Silencer/Tailpipe (2014)
  • Reconditioned Steering Rack (2013)
  • JOMS Blueline Coilovers (2013)
  • Reconditioned Turbo (2009)
A great car that looks and feels better than its age with a top notch engine that still pulls beautifully. I’ll be sad to see it go.

It is in good shape for its years but has the sort of dings and scrapes you would expect. I've taken pictures of the obvious ones including typical stone chips and scrapes.

  • The nearside alloy is badly kerbed (but it’s been like that for as long as I’ve had the car and no tyre fitter or garage has ever had any concerns about it).
  • Nearside rear panel deep scratch.
  • Tooth missing in front grille.
  • Small rust patches on the front wheel arches which came from blocked drains that weren’t spotted soon enough (now cleared).
  • Offside front indicator cluster seal has recently gone and is suffering water ingress.

Would love a Briskodian to have it; plenty of miles of happy motoring left in it.
