Bit of an update,

Had all the interior carpet out, insulation removed from front and rear, just top layer of carpet left in the front for some comfort, foot wells were lovely and rust free :) not bad for a 14year old car,

Before a little clean

And after

Gave the subframe a quick blast of a few layers of paint to ease the surface rust, this will be changed when new engine goes in at some point so only needs to last a while,

Just mounted up the manual steering rack ready to be refitted tomorrow hopefully if I get time, need to get new track rod ends as the manual rack ones are too short, and my old ones are seized solid so can't swap them over,

Then I have everything ready to refit, new wishbones and ballpoints, low milage driveshafts, weitec coilovers, braided lines, gti hubs and brakes,

Then it will be onto the weighbridge to see where I'm at, hoping to see mid 800kg's :)

A few more bits have been ordered and acquired at the scrappy today, got a battery lead and distribution box off a e46 bmw, battery mounted in boot as standard and a new alt belt and bracket and tensioner from a non ps model so I can remove the power steering pump on mine as I left it in situe after removing all the pipes, new lightweight battery 6.5kg and holder, terminals, kill switch etc, strut braces all round too front upper and lower and rear upper, so should lose another 10kgs easy even with adding the braces :)

New battery arrived so made a start at installing that, made a bracket up on the inner arch to hold the fuse holder in place, original positive is attached to a bmw in line fuse connection under it, then just got to run a lead off that into the cabin,

I hope not, what ever happened to recycling?

He scrapped it according to title :(

I see that now Toxic..       That would have been a great project, I have a spare VR6 24 valve engine, a spare 6 speed gear box and transfer case, a spare rear subframe and Haldex/diff, a spare prop shaft..........  I think you get the picture where this could have gone...

VR6 Turbo  4 Motion Polo, we wouldn't need to worry about weight would we

Sorry to hear the Polo has been scrapped Trev but I look forward to seeing the Evo on some of the Brisky track days

Ah dude yeah it was scrapped, definitely gonna get some track days in the Evo though if I'm allowed to come to brisky ones, might stick a project thread up if anyone's interested in jap stuff, going to be doing a few bits to her

I am sure nobody would notice.........       shame about the polo as you did a lot of work on it.

Yeah I know bud, seemed a waste sticking another 1.4 in, and finding a decent 1.6 16v to drop in and all the conversion bits was hard, plus then the gearboxes blow up like anything so finding a decent box that don't need a rebuild is hard too, you get the picture. shame as it was a really fun car to drive and throw about even with 60odd bhp,

I know about the gearbox, I went to Cirencester on New years Eve to get a box for the lads Lupo 1.4 16 valve, on New years day we fitted the box and a new clutch, there is not much room in there for working!

So from 60bhp to 400+ you will not need to worry about saving weight lol

I am sure nobody would notice.........

Yes we would notice!

So can't wait to see it! ;)
