DAB Slideshows

The only place you will get Amundsen firmware is the dealer, and you will have to jump through the hoops.

German logos are from phonostar.de according to the copyright info on my Columbus. What does the Polo say in the copyright info?

Says exactly the same thing - phonostar.de

I had a read of the Polo radio user manual and it says that in some countries the station logos are pre-loaded, which is what you said!

So the unfortunate conclusion for me is that unless a new firmware also includes uploading all the station logos and being able to associate them with tuned radio stations automatically - I am stuck with the manual association of icons, and that means really small icons on the slideshow.

I think I will cancel my appointment with the dealer and await the next update from Sootchucker to see if an updated firmware fixes the situation for the VW unit.

I would really like to know how the Polo unit achieves it though!

Does the bolero download station logos? Or is it only the sat navs?

AFAIK all MIB DAB units, so the Bolero should. Tune to BBC WS on DAB and switch to Station Info view instead of Slideshow view.

As I thought, there are pre-loaded logos then. How they are assigned is the clever bit :) If I could get my hands on a 3740 firmware DVD or higher for a Columbus I might be able to work it out LOL.

So, seeing as we are stuck with really small logos in the Station Info and Slideshow view, what we need to do is start getting a collection of station logos at 500x500 in .png format together ............

Anyone know where to start?

Ah, that'll work. However that's the only one that works. Which is a shame.

Yep, it is the only one that has ever worked for me unless I am around London when some others started working.

And another, but this is hard work searching for them one by one .....

I'm going to give those a try now and see how they look :)

Mmmmm - not good!

They shrink down to the buttons fine, but look a bit small.

In the slideshow and station info view they are the same size as on the presets - tiny!

This is with 0370 firmware on a Columbus.

Anyone know what format the unit will accept as I did them as .png

Might try with .jpeg and also with .svg which in theory are scalable

Just thought I'd post a quick update. Yesterday my Golf 7 GTD went into the dealers to have the Navigation Pro (Skoda version - Columbus) updated to see if this solved a few issues I was having, It was upgraded from 0192 (as delivered by the factory) to 0200 (not as new as I thought it would be).

Well I can report that the automatic downloading of DAB information (station logos, images, artist and album covers etc), still does not work, and when in "Station information" or "Slideshow" views, it still just displays the same tiny icon that's used for the "Preset list" view.

Ah well, so much for that then. Let's just hope it solved the random navigation lock ups that I've had about 6 times in the 14 months I've owned the car.

Try BBC WS - if you get a logo on that, that is as good as it gets unfortunately.

0200 is old firmware, about a year old now! Maybe your hardware won't support any higher.

My Columbus is a revC unit with HW043 and firmware 0370 and still only downloads BBC WS, and the preset logos I manually assign (at 500x500) are shrunk down as well, and appear as small icons in the Slideshow view. I have tried png, jpeg and bmp and it is the same with all three formats.

All a bit pants really - you would have thought they had sorted all this out by now as it works fine in Germany where the logos are all pre-loaded to the unit from data supplied by phonstar.de

Here's some more...errr...retro ones..I've fixed to 500x500:

:D

From what I can see, there's no way to make them larger on screen (Columbus), they stay at about an inch square, even though the broadcast logos are much larger (approx 5cm square). Larger images get shrunk down too.

Several stations (e.g. most of the BBC stations) don't seem to broadcast the logos at all down my way (Sussex), though you do get text info about the show and what's playing. Some do broadcast the logo (e.g. BBCworldservice), and some broadcast logos, info and large photo images of what is playing (e.g. Capital radio). I think it more to do with what the stations are broadcasting rather than a problem with the headunit not working properly?

Hello All

I have a new logo problem!

The towbar fitter took my MIB unit out today. When he put it back together he missed the DAB connection. I didn't realise this so did a system reset first and cleared all my stations and logos.

I took it back and he found the cable and put it back in.

I started to load the logos from the MIB1 and MIB2 zip files that are on here. Also jpgs from Google. To begin with it would only let me add three logos and no more. I reset the radio and repeated. It now won't let me add any logos at all!

I am using the normal process. I have tried 2 USB sticks. Radio - Manage logos - press the station - select the logo - nothing!

Any ideas?

Thanks

Garnett

I have had exactly this problem for some time. I have a Columbus on the latest firmware but no matter what I do it will not let me add any logos to the DAB presets. The only one that shows is BBC World Service, but that is OTA. The odd thing is that when I first got the car the logos added correctly and even stranger the logos work perfectly with the FM presets. I have tried rebooting, resetting, different logo formats but nothing works. If anyone has a magic wand to fix this I would be very grateful.

Been for my service today. I had pre-warned Skoda Customer Service that I wanted it fixed.

When I collected it they confirmed that there is a problem and Skoda will release a software update imminently - I reckon 3 months?

Not holding my breath ......

I deleted my logos in error yesterday and today when I switched the radio on most were back. The ones that weren't I downloaded from here by dragging the icons on the website to an SD card then doing a logo update on my MIB2 Amundsen.

I did notice that you can only have a set number of logos - 15 I think - any other station selected doesn't show a logo unless a previous one is deleted.

We are having problems with the Columbus. The Amundsen is not a problem I understand.
