Anyone know of a 3.6 petrol estate for sale?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My wife is suffering from Chronic Migraines and I'm looking for one of these, as quiet transport. I test drove a new one and it was practically silent at a cruise, my current 170 diesel is not noisy, but you do still have  a low level diesel rumble present. I've been keeping my eyes open for one for the last few weeks, but nothing on the Skoda website or Autotrader (apart from a new L&K).

So ideally, not too new (cheaper), in excellent condition, dark interior and no sunroof, but would consider any vehicles available.

Thanks and Regards,

Tony

Sorry can't help with finding a car but I can say that my 3.6 is very quiet at cruising speed. Does it have to be an estate? The only reason I ask is that the twin door will probably be quiter because of its more isolated cabin.

There is a nearly new Elegance for £24K but I'm pretty sure you could get this for under £20K...

It does have a light interior though, but no sunroof at least.

They are as rare as rocking horse poo.

Thanks for the thoughts gents.

Good choice of car, I was looking for the same vehicle for 6 months and could not really find what I liked in that very limited market.

So I compromised and purchased a hatchback, its better than I was expecting  .

Other option is to get your current car soundproofed . Many audio specialists can significantly reduce the noise in the cabin

Doesn't have to be the V6. I have the 2.0 litre petrol and you cannot hear the engine on the inside (and hardly at all when outside) I expect the 1.8 petrol will be the same.

I think that the 2.0 TSi is quiet, (except when leaving a stoplight in "S" mode!) but you can hear a bit of noise at motorway speeds.

Maybe the twin-door is a little quieter than the estate?

Our old V6 Mondeo had more noise from the rear of the car than an equivalent hatchback.

V6 thread resurrection :)

Did you get a V6 in the end? Mine is very quiet at speed. It's also very quiet when stationary.

Yesterday I scared the cr#p out of my mother in law whilst I was sitting in the (running at idle) car on the drive uploading some bits and bobs from the SD card to the Columbus...she walked past and I honked the horn. She jumped two feet poor girl...she was not best pleased but said that she did not hear the car running :D
