Anti perforation body warranty - how to claim?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Has anyone sucessfully claimed the warranty from Skoda? My bootlid is starting to rust, ever so slightly, below the number plate. It's definitely happening under the paint so i would like to get it sorted as quickly as possible.

Can anyone advise the best process?

Have you had it from new, so know this is just appearing now?

Does the car have a Service Record and Body inspections carried out annually,

any damage marked in the Service Book & any previous repairs noted ?

It will not be a Perforation if there is no holed panel,  just a pin hole.

So it is the Paint Warranty which is no longer valid i would think of it as Panel Corrosion.

So just ask Skoda UK what they mean by Perforation if they knock you back on the 10 or 12

year cover if that was what was valid at the time your car was new.

You are going to have to have it examined by a Skoda Employee if the Warranty Requirements are up to date.

Best be sure it is a Qualified Painter / Body Repairer checking and not somebody the Dealership sends out to look at it.

So if there is no Body Shop at the dealer you choose you are a little stuck with what someone says.

Yeah someone on here has had a new hatch due to bubbles coming through.

Just go to your local dealers and see them :)

Any rust would need to be coming from the inside outwards, any sign of external paint damage and the warranty will not cover it ( eg. stone damage, accident damage).

There are various other conditions on the warranty which would also need to have been met.

I've just had a new drivers door fitted due to corrosion starting to bubble under the paint along the bottom edge of door. It initially went in for a paint job but was deemed to far gone to repair.

Car is a 2006 VRS, I havnt owned it from new and it doesnt have full dealer history.

Take your motor to your nearest dealer warranty dept, they will ( should !) photograph the area and send off to Skoda UK for a decision. Mine went to Simpsons Preston and i couldnt fault the service.

Hope this helps, Chris

I've had a new hatch and rear quater panel repaired due to rust and I'm the 4th owner of my Fabia.

Where did you take it. And how easy was it?

The paint work on mine is poor in places some due to age but some of it must be from when it rolled out of the factory. There's a spot just above the rear passenger door approx 2mm in diameter which is bare metal but covered with lacquer. Looks like it was like that from new to me.

Dm-Keith in Leeds as they have on site body shop. I just turned up pointed out the problem areas and the guy took some pics and a few weeks later the claim was accepted and work began. The annoying thing now is my quarter panel doesn't quite match so it's going back in next month to be resprayed again.

Lol keep going back until it's a full respray.

It's the panel that they repaired that's a slightly light shade than the rest of the car, if I was going for a full respray I'd want it done rallye green to match my mk2 cause I'm a sad **** lol
