 On Tesday night on my home from Belfast to Bangor over an area called Craigantlet (think thats the spelling), i was stuck behind 4 cars and a tractor one of the cars over took once we can onto a clear striaght which is about 1/2mile long or so. None of the other cars indicated or went to go so decided that sitting at 15mph in a 60 i'd go as the road was clear so off i went passed the first two ok and then next at the last minute this white car puts on it's indictor and pulls straight into me no time to do anything, sending me off to the right next thing i know air bags are off i bump down only to get another large impact which turns out to be a parked car thankfully no one in it but fet quite bad for them.

To make matters worse once tryingto get things sorted with the police etc as to what happed my dad who had come up hears the other drive saying he could of killed me :finger::finger: , i could of killed him what about me according to a witness i was on two wheels at one stage and was looking good for going on my room plus if it had of been about 10 feet or so earlier i would pro of been picket out of a tree as it happened a forest lay by.

It's not looking good for the motor at the front passenger there is no steering drive etc, everything up to the suspension mount is basically touching the engine, 3rd, 5th and think 4th feel funny in the gear box, small crease in roof and a-pilar, passenger side doors are pushed up and out, o and also crease in rear passenger cill.

Will try to get photo's up but can't really see everything in the ones i have

Just to make things worse had just bought one of the new kenwood 10" 1000w subs and the lead i needed to get my tv back and working finally came in the next day.It was also due to go and get the boot sortedfor the sounds and to have the components etc fitted

thats awful mate, terrible people shouldnt be on the roads to do things like that esp at the last minut at speeds :( , hope your ok yourself

My commisserasions mate, had a lorry pull out on me last week while driving down the motorway, avoided it but only just. People just don't use their mirrors

At least it's not your fault.....other driver should have used mirrors and seen you coming......Still doesn't help you though but the main thing is you are OK cars can be fixed

Bad luck mate, glad you are OK.

Sounds like its a write off if the a pillar is damaged etc, shame.

I sympathise with you very much on this ...... during my working day I come

up with this situation many times ....... it really *isses me off ..... many people

have no idea how to overtake a slow moving vehicle .... the big problem is the

tw*t immediately behind the slow one ...... they follow so close that they

cant see the road ahead is clear and nobody takes the initative and overtakes

the first car and slow mover...... so you come along to the back of the queue and

can see that the road is clear for the next 1/2 mile and wonder why nobody will

overtake ........ my solution is put the headlights on mainbeam together with the

indicator and overtake the lot very gingerly watching for anyone in front likely to

pull out without looking in their rear view mirror ...... too many *ossers on the roads

these days

Winds me up something terrible the people who will not overtake slow moving vehicles. They're normally 3 foot off of the tractor etc so can't see round it and cause more problems than the lorry/tractor. Has happened to me going to Lowdham luckily the road is wide enough for three cars as I found out and the driver who pulled out on me started to abuse me - Hope it all gets sorted

Pleased you are ok.Some people have no road sense at all.

( I see you have registered on fiat forum.Don't go getting tempted by the new punto with a nose like a maserati! EDIT..think you are a different Andy vRS! sorry) Hope the furby is easily repairable.Don't forget to go to the docs if you have a bit of whiplash too for future ref

Unlucky mate, bit of a nasty mess is your car!

It's amazing how many people pull out on you when your over taking, not just on a single lane but on the motorway too.

Main thing is your not hurt and your've walked away a little wiser from it

Glad you are okay mate - looks like that SEAT shouldn't have been on the road anyway judging by the amount of rust in that sill.

At least Skoda have made a decent offer to you :)

The other Andy vRS

Terrible news and as everyone else has said, i'm glad your ok. At the end of the day a car is replacable.

I always get worried about being the 1st to overtake past others that just sit there like plumbs following a tractor or something and in the past have flashed my full beam and even tooted as i've gone down the line to make sure everyone knows i'm coming.

really bad news mate :(. good thing is that you are ok and not badly hurt. not much compensation mind you as your car looks pretty bad.

hope it all works out for you though

Mate, you must be gutted! What a ***** :finger:

I always cover my horn when overtaking lots of cars (not that it would help one iota mind!), some pricks really haven't got a clue how to drive.

If the roof is creased then I hope for you that its a write off - as a new panel would be out of the question - and simply beating it out would be unacceptable imo.

Good luck in getting it all sorted mate. As for stereo - if your insurance doesn't cover it under your policy, then claim for uninsured loss under his...

A friend of mine went to over take a tractor many years ago, when it decided to turn right into a lane without warning. He was said to be at fault as he was behind!!! There's no justice.

Its very lucky you had witnesses.

I agree with lozgti, get yourself to the docs for a check up. If you develop an injury over the next few months, up to 3 years, you can claim. But it will look better if you go along now and get checked out, even if it is only stiffness.

We pay our insurance, so we might as well get our moneys worth out of them. Just remember, even though it wasn't your fault, you still have to tell the insurance company, who will probably increase your premium for the next 3 years.

JD

That looks a right mess but thankfully nobody was hurt. For your sake, I hope they write your car off - probably will if the roof is creased.

Hope the other driver was OK also - even if he was a pillock - he may have never done anything like that before and simply had a "blind" moment. It happens to us all even if we don't always admit it.

Get your doctor to check you over. Hope you mend quickly.

I was in a write off once and felt a bit stiff and bruised for a few days then whip lash set in and before I knew it all the muscles in my back were out of sync and I had to go for physio for a few weeks. At the time my bro had fully comp insurance and a solicitor contacted me (this was some time ago before the ambulance chasing that goes on now days started) and I ended up getting about

happend to me last october on a dual carrigeway, left the lights in the right hand lane car in the left was half a car infornt of me when he decided to overtake a car being towed, I beeped like mad and moved over as far as i could but twas no use, he attacked, hit me once, i moved over to the high center curb but he came at me again pushed me into the curb knackering my alloys i braked and he kept coming, he ended up on the grass verge in the center and nearly oncoming traffic

Got out of his car and said it wasnt his fault, i couldnt believe he actually had the audacity, no witnesses as the car being towed had gone.

He actually rang his insurance company and said something along the lines of

'Well, the car wasnt there when i looked in my mirror so it couldnt have been my fault'

I must have used my flux capacitor........

The only problem i had was that his insurance company requested they send my car to a garage of there choice, PERRYS!!!!!!

Was still knackered when i got it back really, the refurb on the alloys started coming off with the first wash, my suspention was dodgy on the side he hit me and the lacquer on the metallic paint went all funny after about a month. Neadless to say, i wont be having any work done there again.

Sorry to hear but at least everyone is OK. Passed the scene of this on the way home, could have been very nasty.

I not serious but stiff and sore. It ended up causing quite a delay for some people just as long everything goes as it should and the driver of the other car tells how it happened and doesn't change his story

Exactly the same thing happened to me... I was behind a Scooby who was behind a Skip lorry doing about 20mph... I had dipped lights on... Checked mirrors,, I was also far enough back to see clear road ahead.. Indicated, moved out half way past Scooby, he just pulls out with no indication at all...

He admitted that he had not looked or even considered that anyone might be overtaking....

The damage on your car is far worse than mine was... So he must have hit you with some force...

having said that my suspension was destroyed when i hit the kerb...

Hope it gets written off... How old is it anyway? If under a year then you should be entitled to a brand new replacement... UK Insurance norm..

She is a march 04, a fella i know who does body work came and a look last night and said it looks written off to him with the air bags, 3-4 creases in the roof and the cill being twisted and creased. Think it was more i was getting up to speed rather than him carrying any speed
