Making no qualms about it and I don't care what anyone says in a negative way (seriously! so go ahead please :)) But I'll be running what the DVLA (and I guess the fuzz :() will consider to be illegal numberplates. Totally standard legal size, font, plate type, plate size, plate positioning, plate lighting for the rear, etc. I'm just moving a single letter over from the 3 letters to the end of the numbers to create the effect I want (and a few select Briskodians are in the know, and know the effect I'm implying here ;) :wavey: )

Just wondered how long it is until I get stopped and made to change/get fined, etc. Already have duplicate set made up and will be in the car for this hopefully unlikely event.

It depends on how subtle you are, and how "diplomatic" you are if you get stopped. Hint - posting on a public forum "I've got illegal plates" may not be the best opening gambit :D

But they're only being used for shows! :) I'll just be a bit blonde and forget to swap them back again. :o;)

I don't see a crime being committed thats harming anyone/anything.... I know thats why the laws are there, but.... I'll shut up now.

SHOW plates! :)

TBH the fuzz generally shouldn't bother you with plates as you have described. the ones they go for are itallics, micro sized plates or ones that have been grievously f****d about with, with extra screw caps all over the place and letters or numbers that don't look like they should. You should be fine with a bit of moody spacing.

If you do get doen, I'll put money on it being from a traffic cop or one of the ANPR guys, coz their cameras wont be able to read your plate.

If you are stopped, you run the risk of loosing the right to use the plate. The DVLA has the right to withdraw the plate from you if not displayed correctly, IIRC its not an endorsable offence but carries a fine. The risk is much greater if stopped a 2nd time.

Just dont come to Hertfordshire, they are having a big crackdown on these and I regularly see the police pulling cars over. The reason is herts police heavily use ANPR cameras to catch tax dodgers and those with no insurance, and because your plate will cause an error you will also be pulled.

....................I'm so excited..................can't wait.....Can you PM me with Jason's concent of coarse.

He'll have to reveal it soon as its going on some rollers this weekend.

Is it a combinaton of letters/numbers that reads the same whichever way up the plate is?

I would have thought that ANPR could deal with different spacing - surely it's not that easy to fool?

If it's standard font and not stupidly done, you'll probably get away with it...

That's a clever Idea. When the car's on it's roof.. Mr Plod will know who's it is

Knowing your luck Jason you'll be pulled over after about one mile of driving ;)

Do the DVLA have a hotline for informing on dodgy plates? ;)

I know they do for tax discs, so they may do....

Well, without knowing my current reg or new reg, it would be tricky to report me, no? :D

You like it Richard, don't you? And Jon is definitely very familiar with it! He's the one who suggested it to me, and I'd been hankering for it ever since he told me. (over a YEAR ago now  )

Like I did say - standard EVERYTHING - I only contravene their silly "__mm between letters, __mm between groups" rule. Everything is proper and legal.

Thats OK Jason , I've got a picture or two of the current car ;)

"Hello, DVLA? The car is in Devon and was re-registered with you this week - you should have the details on file..." ;)

 About 4 months or more. Its cheaper than a dragon PD tuning box FFS. :D

Just requires you to change a few parts over which is kinda complex for muppets like me.

i dont think you will get pulled over unless there bored....but then jst say you have been to a show and their your show plates:), keep some real ones in the boot of coursethat way you got the best of both :D
