My 10 came with a USB OTG cable. If you want to connect to a larger screen you'll need a mini HDMI to HDMI adapter.

  • Asus Memo pads are quite good, as are the LG tablets advertised recently.  Both have SD slots.   I'm considering something else 7" to replace the v1 nexus 7 should Lollipop slow it further.

  • I forgot it comes with a years subscription to office 365 as well. I haven't tried the iplayer stream yet but you can download them. Netflix works well (but then it always seems to whatever you run it

  • Lollipop slowed my Mk1 Nexus so I did a factory reset and now it's back to full speed. Very impressed Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk

The 10 has arrived, set it up last night and it's a nice bit of kit. Haven't really got stuck into it properly though.

Keyboard (display) is different to my Lumia Phone so will take some getting used to.

Just need to sort out some kind of case for it now. Any suggestions?

Yes mine came with the USB OTG cable.

After months of saying a 7" win tab was too small I've just bought one of these

Knew I'd get suckered in the end.

eBuyer just dropped the price of the Linx 7 to £80, with the tablet trade in it comes to £50.

Linx have confirmed my trade in on the 10 so should be getting £50 back very soon.

I'm not trading anything in. We'll se what it's like. I'd like to get the O365 off it and punt it on Ebay. I've got Office on all the house machines anyway.

Looks like it's not worth pulling Office from it. Getting sod all on Ebay, on the flip side won't be expensive to continue the license if I actually use it.

Not activated mine yet, might wait until I actually have to use it.

I picked up a Linx 10 on Tuesday as a bit of an impulse buy. Loving the fact that it comes with full Windows instead of RT.

The main reason for purchase was so when we go touring on the motorbike I can tweak the routes I've setup for the Zumo GPS.

I'm really impressed so far. It could do with bit more storage nut that's mainly because the Garmin maps are huge and you can't move them to the SD card.

I've had the wireless drop out a couple of times but turning the WiFi off and on again has sorted it.

I don't reckon much to the keyboard case - the keys are hard to press, the tablet sometimes doesn't see that it is plugged in but the main gripe is that you have to detach it if you just want to use tablet mode as if you try and fold it around the back of the tablet the keyboard unplugs itself from the device.

I've had it for two days and haven't felt the need to reach for the full laptop yet.

Hopefully the £50 cashback will come through. I initially had issues with the website not recognising the serial number but worked out that putting it in uppercase sorted it.

If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is.

Have now read that the HP Stream commonly has issues with noise in the headphone jack. Seems to be a bit of pot luck how bad it is. Since the main aim of this is as a media player for Amazon Prime Streaming it might go back yet.

Is the hp stream full windows too? For 75 it's got to be worth a punt.

Having briefly used a laptop (non touch) with Windows 8 and now having used the Linx some more last night, I'm really beginning to like it. For touch models, it does seem to flow and work much better.

Yup full 8.1 and will get Win10 later.

Still £75 inc shipping. Has Windows "signature edition", i.e. crud free and claims free AV, but I suspect that is just Windows Defender.

Online reviews are a bit of a mixed bag as to whether they rate the HP as better or worse than the Linx7.

My Nexus 7 has some noise bleeding over from the power and processor into the headphones, if it's not worse than that I'll be happy enough. It's not noticeable when there is actually any sound playing.

Checked, the free AV is indeed MS Defender.

Bit cheeky.

HP tab came through today.

Quite impressed with the build quality so far considering the price. Quite heavy, more than the Nexus 7 2013, thicker too but not ridiculously.

Noticed the light bleed at one side near the windows button, only really apparent when the screen is on full blast when connected to power.

Win8.1 a bit of a culture shock even having a Windows phone, not much carries over between them.

Seems zippy enough no lag. Faster than the mess Google have left my Nexus in with their updates. But then Windows is always fast to start with.

Trying to get it to update now then I'll shove in the 32Gb sd I've got here.

I expected the Linx and the Windows Phone to be reasonably similar but like you I was surprised that they aren't alike. But having used Win 8.1 on a laptop and now on the Linx, I can say it works much better on the "touch" environment.

Well a few hours later and I can agree with most people now that despite being a bit of a fan of Winpho 8.1,  full Win8.1 is a schizophrenic mess even with touch.

Very easy to tell where Ms has tried to go all Apple and lock everything to a MS account. Quite difficult to have a separate desktop account which then logs into individual services.

The device itself is very good apart from one probably game ending problem. the screen is ok although not a patch on a Nexus, also it's just plastic and a bit of a fingerprint magnet.

As said the screen can bleed light from the edges althoug except on a black screen at 100% brightness it's not very noticable.

Win8.1 well as above I'd probably get used to it.

The killer prob is the one I'd expected. The headphone electronics are not well shielded so pick up all sorts of noise. My Nexus has a bit of a drone when you're on AC with headphones but the Stream fairly crackles and chirps as it picks up the em from the cpu and whatever else.

When programs are noisy it's not very noticeable i.e. Top Gear into with music and V8s. Change of scene to Clarkson in the studio then it's very apparent.

Bit of unfortunate cost cutting. They should have ditched the cameras and proofed the electronics better.

I'm going to try some other headphones just in case but I suspect that I'll have to return it since it was bough predominantly to watch streaming video vis Amazon prime which I can't do on the Nexus.

Did you not fancy an Asus memo pad? Saw a deal the other day in Tesco for one, and it has a memory card slot which supports up to 128gb.

£89 rings a bell

Already got a 7" droid tab.

I wanted something that will play Amazon Streaming video. ****ers have never released an app for anything but their own Fire tabs.

There might be something for the US but not over here.

Plus Google has pretty much ruined it over 2yr with their 'updates'.

Tried other headphones and buzz is less with some than others. Seems to be a common issue with smaller tabs.

Nah going back.

Headphone nosie is annoying even with other sets. Also it can't cope with playback from Amazon except on the lowest quality settings which defeats the purpose of getting it. you can't force low bandwidth on amazon you have wait for 5min of stuttering before it decides to drop down. HD was a non starter.

HD on iplayer worked ok so I guess it's just MS's own Silverlight that causes the problem. Checked the resources when it was playing back. Memory was sitting at 80% but the CPU was sub 20% so plenty of power to run the video. so not really sure what was causing it. Possibly a disk I/O since that was looking maxed but being solid state I'd have expected it to be plenty fast enough.

Burned through the battery quickly too which isn't an issue to me but might be to others. also will only charge from it's own charger so if you were out and about you couldn't just plug it into your phone charger. I assume it needs a higher ampage supply.

Wasted money buying a case now.

That's a shame Aspman. What's on the lust to replace, if anything?

Probably going to jump up the price a good bit. Think Dell Venue Pro 11 with an i3. Can pick up a refurb for £200.

We use them at work so I know what they're like. Could get an i5 for another £75 but I've only got an i3 in the desktop and it's fine.

Really getting into the Linx now. Office been activated and with stuff saved to cloud at work, can even work on the tablet (although didn't buy it for that reason)

Have also got a case for it and today had my trade in processed.

Mine's now been tested after this week in London.

Getting a good 5 hours out of it with wifi enabled, 6 in flight mode. That's continuous use as well - I don't do the sleep thing so it gets turned off between uses/

I've read that the sleep function doesn't work very well in Win8 so you're probably doing the right thing by just switching it off. They're so fast to boot it doesn't really matter.

I can recommend the MS Store as a shop even if I can't rate the HP.

Free returns and a refund within 5 days.

Was speaking with a work colleague the other day and he's also thinking of getting a Dell Venue after being impressed with them at his work.

They (dell) look quite good and the desktop docks don't look too expensive either.
