Number plate LED error

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Have any of you had any success in replacing the number plate bulbs on a Octavia Combi 2015 model?

I have tried two different types of LED bulbs now to no avail. The lights are on - but the CANbus error is to annoying.

I've followed the VCDS guide in the technical forums.

We've tried:

(1)-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lasttyp 25 from 18 - 2* 5W to LED Lichtmodul

and

(1)-Leuchte25KZL HA59-Lasttyp 25  -  set to: 43 - allgemeine LED

With both

(6) Leuchte25KZL HA59 - Dimmwert AB 25  -  set to 127 and 100

They could be on a different lighting channel on the Combi?

I'm going to look at mine on vcds to see if I can remove the warning

I have just installed my LEDs and I had to play a lot with VCDS. I tried several settings and finally somehow succeded. The lights were on, but I had the error message.

Finally I put back my original bulbs, changed the coding back to 2*5w.

When the error message disappeared, I changed the coding to 43, then turned off the ignition. Then replaced the bulbs with the LEDs and turned ignition on.

The error message did not appear again.

Hmm interesting Aki78. Which LEDs are you using?

I'm currently using CAN bus "ready" ones - They are using 1.6W.

Ahaavi - Know about those. But it's going to be a cold day in hell before I pay 40€ for two LED bulbs.

I ordered them from China.

I will write a review soon because this is very good stuff.

2 or 3 times brighter than the original W5W.

I can't upload pictures at the moment but I posted some info in the hungarian Octavia forum.

You'll find photos and link.

The bulbs are not "error-free" which is good: no additional heating element on the PCB.

Interesting - I just bought two of those LEDs as well. I'll report back when I get them.

Is this not a bit like fitting non-Canbus HID kits to the MKII, do the coding before you change the bulbs or the BCM has already decided it doesn't like them.

I don't know - I can try again in a few days when my VCDS friend has time :)

I just replaced the whole number plate light housing, with built in multi LEDs.

Is just plug in and works. No errors and looks a load better.

Not cheap, but they are guaranteed. So no worries there.

Cars and Hoe's are the same, go for the cheap ones and you won't get want you want.

Hehe - You ARE everywhere :) We can try monday - Fine with me. I'm guessing you're going to have some problem.

Try setting the channel as we posted in the tweaks setting to off! Do the number plate lights go out? If not then the channel on your vehicle is different.
