Engine Management Light and Loss of Power issues...

Featured Replies

Hi all...

Our 2007 Skoda Fabia 1.2 has 50k miles on it.

Ever since the summer, the engine management light is on, and stays on.

We've taken it to the local garage, who reported it was an issue with "coil 2". So they replaced it, and all of the spark plugs.

However, less than a week later, the light was again.

We took it back, and it was diagnosed as the same "coil 2" error. They swapped the coils around etc, but it didn't help.

We were then informed we need the injector behind it needs replacing.

We did that, however, less than a week later, the light was back on.

We then took it to the Skoda garage, who reported the same errors with  "coil 2". They then looked at the "newly" replace injector and said it's spray pattern wasn't correct and needed replacing. (albeit it was just replaced!)

So we replaced it...again.

As we got home, the light was back on! (and we've spent about £1000 and it is still broken) :-(

Performance seems okay, however, over the last 2 months, there's been about 3 occasion where the light starts flashing and the car looses power completely.

We then simply stop the car, switch it off and on again and we can drive as normal with the light on.

All Skoda offered was to look at what they did and then after that we would have to "cough up again"...

However, the lose of power issue is becoming a daily occurrence now and we don't know what to do.

We don't trust the garages anymore, and are not sure what to do or where to turn.

Pleas help.

I've had this on my VRS but with COIL 3.  I've got the RAC out several times, and they said on the last one that if it happens again (which it has) then it needs to go to Skoda and have all the wiring checked.  I've not got round to that and don't think I will as it happens only now and then and it's going next year it's slightly annoying espically when you need to get out of a tight spot and it just sits there.
