The filler cap tyre pressure chart on my 230 is  "  19" Rims, normal loading is 39 PSi or 2.7 bar "

Today set all 4 at 3 bar. They were all over the place (nice one Dealer!!). Prob a bit high, but a good starting point to test & see what I prefer.

45PSI instead of 39 is licence-losing high at 3 points per tyre.

:D

I'll be glad to see the back of the 19" wheels and go back to the 18" ones on the new one, I've never really liked the ride with them.

I run my PS4S's at 3 bar, very little sidewall flex & the rims are safe from potholes.

No problems & I've got dentures ok, ok I've got DCC too but, they feel great through the corners, no turn-in-lag whatsoever

Not compared to the Fabia I'm selling ;)

For years I've had a (badish) habit of over inflating by a few psi, knowing that it might be a long stretch til I get the chance to check again. Must stop doing that.

And 15% above the "book figure", which is 4 x 3 point endorsable offences.

@KenONeill the book figure goes up to 3.2 bar

@themanwithnoaim If and only if the Police officer writing the ticket accepts your argument, and your car is fully loaded, and even then only for the rear tyres.

Interesting, I've often wondered about this and thought 3 bar in this case seems to be "eco" pressures for normal use and so would be ok and so basically anything between 2.7 and 3 is alright. Agree if you had the fully laden pressures and an empty car then that might be a problem and also I know from experience makes the car drive terribly when nipping to the shop on a weekend away with the car emptied out, can get very bouncy on B roads! Be interested to get others thoughts on this

Don't you think you're being pedantic?

And you'd rather deal with a pedantic polis on the subject?

"Hi officer, yes my tyres are at 3 bar, the recommended 'eco' setting from the manufacturer."

What exactly are they going to pull you up on?

"Well firstly officer, they're not at 46, they're at 3 bar, which is 43.5psi and if you'd care to phone Skoda UK I'm sure they'll happily confirm for you that the sticker on my car which says 3 bar is not a lie"

Pretty sure they can't dish out endorsements based on fictional pressure limits.

@Kenai "Congratulations sir, you win a full roadside MoT while you wait."

So now we're just into abuse of power because apparently our police officer is upset at being told 3 bar isn't over inflated on a car that recommends 3 bar inflation on the filler cap for economic driving?

What utter nonsense.

The simple fact is this - 3 bar is NOT over inflated on 19 inch wheels on the Octavia. This is in fact literally one of Skodas recommended pressures. Your original point that this is 15% 'over book' is just wrong.

Apparently you think that anyone will respond well to what they perceive as cheek on your part. I'm going to stop wasting bandwidth on you now.

Sometimes it's better to just admit when you're wrong, like claiming 3 bar is over inflated.

Aren’t tyre pressures supposed to be set when the tyres are cold?  So just how long will this policeman need to detain you at the roadside to check your tyre pressures with his calibrated pressure gauge???
