what car is your planned long termer, and why?

I never want to part with my vRS. I've had it since June 2004. It does everything I need, it's fun, fast enough. Paid for. Plus I've put a lot of money into it, especially the last 18 months.

Hopefully it will last for some time.

I had my Mk I Octy for over nine years from new, and only really changed as I wanted to rather than needed to. The Yeti was bought with the expectation that it would either get swapped four or five years in, or more likely kept much longer. I only averaged just over 8k a year in the Octy over that time, but I've done over 13K a year in the Yeti (it will roll over 32K on the commute home from work tomorrow) . I'm not sure if that use will continue, but I'll be quite reluctant to let this one go.

my octy will bw with me until it dies or i get put on BIK fleet car at work. Will try and change swmbo's car in 2yrs time, keep it young, might go electric if it seems practical then. If the BIK is only a van, possible, id swap mine and hers in against a new(er) octy or fabia estate. The MIL got a spanking new saloon Mazda3 2 weeks ago, which she says will see her out. Its beautifully crafted, smooth, comfy... my only gripe is the tiny access to the boot... It would break me coming from the Octy's cave!

had my MkI Fabia 1.9TDi PD 100 and-a-bit-for-free for almost 5 years and 60K miles. Done a few mods and fancy a Roomster but TBH, the old fell's never ever let me down or left me stranded so I'll probably run him till he croaks.

Longest I had a car was 3 years and 9 months (Renault 5) and the shortest was 7 months(Ford Fiesta)

We got our Mk2 2009 Octy estate in 2012 with 23,000 miles on it and will probably look to change it for another Octavia at around 85,000 miles. It has the space we need along with reliability, good night and drives nicely.
