Coilover kits.

Featured Replies

Researching next steps that may be taken on my project, it has struck me that there is a very large range of coilover/suspension kits available for the Fabia vRS, ranging from about £160 all the way into four figures.

Without sifting through many seperate threads I would like to hear of people's experiences with the different available types. The benefits that they have given over the stock suspension, how they compare to each other. That kind of thing.

Many thanks to anyone who takes the time to respond.

To say this particular subject has been beaten to death would be an understatement!

Minimum acceptable standard for coilovers if you want 'go' as well as 'show' is the AP kit sold competitively priced by DPM performance on here.

If you want THE best handling then kits from Bilstein and Koni are really where it's at.

Haven't driven a fabia on stock suspension to compare but mine has AP coilovers and they're pretty good :)

Quite, and apologies to anyone who thinks the topic superfluous. It's just that there is so much information scattered that collating it would take a while. With the range of products available I would find a reasonably rapid snapshot of opinion beneficial. :)

I have Eibach Pro springs all round with uprated Bilstein front shocks and standard rears, good handling performance with a 30mm drop which is plenty for the bumpy B roads where I drive. Could go lower but don't want to, lowboys are for townies.

My experiences of two coilover kits at the low & mid-upper budget levels.

JOM's - good value for money; crashy; poor quality; big lows possible.

KW V1's - very good build quality; Inox means no rusting; ride better than standard - very comfy; can't go mega low on the rear without removing adjusters.

A lot is down to the budget you have and what you personally want to spend but as with most things in life you get what you pay for so always try and get the best kit you can afford.

If I can be any help please let me know.
