Additional rearview mirror inside

Featured Replies

Ladies, Gents,

I really hope someone can help me with this.

Back when I ordered my car in July, the catalogue displayed an optional, secondary internal rearview mirror by which you can see the backseat and the kids (have 2). I asked for this little piece but later on they informed it's out of stock and Skoda will not have it until 2015 for sure. Fine I said, hoping it can be fitted retrospect. But now I check the online catalogues everywhere, trying to find someone - anyone - selling this or what the number part is and the picture that had this now has something else. My dealer doesn't help they don't know anything.

Any of you have this piece, or have information on it please? What is the number part? Is it just a legend?

Thanks!

  • Thanks! You know I was thinking if it can be posted on top of the mirror? Have you tried that? Assuming the legs can be bent 90 degrees.

You can pick one up from any auto part dealer, and for a lot less than your Skoda dealer.

On bulgarian Skoda site there is an item under this part number 5E0072549AY20 - BABY MIRROR but out of stock. Price - 175 euro :notme:

I was looking at the exact same thing just a few days ago with no luck (though I also want it for our current car until the Octavia arrives) Thanks so much for the codes. I have asked my dealer if the mirror is also available in other countries and at what price. Otherwise I'll go for something from the bay or amazon, especially if it's 175€

it was exactly this piece of chinese wonder that I had the luck of trying today. doesn't fit properly anywhere and the panorama is by far not wide enough for the 3 backseats - usually my kids sit one on each side, so I need something wide

tried a few others to no avail. I will keep looking and will share if I find something that works.

wow you actually found the part numbers - thanks a mill! the price is discouraging though... anyways, I have asked skoda and skodaparts.com, let's see what they say

I got some feedback from my dealer:

the bulgarian code item doesn't seem to be available in other countries. The cod I got now is: "5L6 857 333 9B9" (black satin) and comes at the much more reasonable price of 45€.

Googling the code brings up loads of Russian sites, but also German ones. And it looks like being an accessory from the Superb. I also found this here:

Mirror ~35€

5L6 857 333 Y20 grey
5L6 857 333 WC4 beige
5L6 857 333 9B9 black
5L6 857 333 4K1 ivory

Mount (presumably necessary to fix the mirror ~23€

5E0 857 277 Y20 grey
5E0 857 277 WC4 beige
5E0 857 277 9B9 black
5E0 857 277 4K1 ivory

Apparently these were also planned for Fabia and Yeti, but somehow nobody seems to have them in stock and I can't really find them in the SKODA accessory catalogs.

I am willing to give it a try, but Gyuri don't wait for me since my octy is planned for a builtweek 7/15, so chances are you will have found something by then.

Hey Tomlux,

Thx for this, I found the same german forum posts. Now skodaparts.com came back on Friday with the black version (5L6 857 333 9B9) and with no mention of the second item above, which is supposed to be the thing that keeps it in place (some kind of console attaching the baby mirror to the interior light frame)

Let me check this again with skodaparts.com, they seem to be very unresponsive...

I would normally offer a coop and wait, but seeing as you are in Luxembourg, chances are it's not really worth it:)

cheers

Halfords sell a range of additional 'sucker on windscreen' rear-view mirrors.  Mine cost £4.99 .

can you post a pic? do you have a mk3 octavia? I think the space available around the mirror has become much tighter in the new model

here's what I am looking for:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_07RSN_XUGCWnpUbW5JR3VhQUE/view?usp=sharing

the sucker-on's don't fit between the mirror and the upholstery on top, and if I put the on the side it's blocking way too much from the view

cheers

Check out the backseat mirrors from http://backseatmirror.net/. They can offer you what your looking for. Got my backseat mirror from them couple of months ago.

Cheers, but it seems that those are meant for the rear-facing seats, our little one has moved to a bigger front-facing seat.

BTW: the CG voice in the videos is hilarious.

Same here, children sit front facing, both of them.

So I actually found a piece (gray) from a breaker in Poland (for only €12), it sold out before my eyes. But I did learn that if you did not have this originally, the trim of the light unit is a special one too - probably to be able to mount it. I am not sure if this is really really 100% sure, but good to know certainly. If anyone can confirm, that would be fantastic, as that piece does not come around too often either.

Cheers

close to a miracle, I actually have the mirror now. next up: how do I mount it? does anyone reading this thread have this in their car - the original part? can you post / share pics on how it is mounted?

cheers

  • 1 month later...

The skoda one has a much more pronounced curvature than the eBay ones ive seen. The skoda items gives a good panoramic view of the rear passengers seats (albeit in my wife's leon)

Super skoda list them

This is weird as the picture from the mirror alone and the fixings don't coincide with the one where you see the kid in the reflection. The fittings seem different. Weird. On the other hand the RRP seems to match the one my dealer gave me.

I'll get my car soon, so I'll see soon which one I'll get.

I can take a picture of my one if you like (when I get home later) so you can see how it goes. Effectively It sticks to the ceiling above the existing mirror

Do you glue it on (3M tape I guess)? Because the picture on superskoda looks like it's "hooked" behind the light fittings. Not sure what the mirror mount is supposed to do then? http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/335117-additional-rearview-mirror-inside/?p=4036469

A photo would be quite useful if you don't mind. Is yours any one of these here then, as I cannot read the product code on the picture on superskoda?

5L6 857 333 9B9 black

As you say, it sticks on with 3M tape

This is great Greg - just one Q: does it stick to the interior light unit, or to the glass above the normal mirror? Maybe you could share a picture of it mounted in your car? Cheers

I can take pictures of it once mounted, only i don't have the car yet... Haha!

From what i can see, The sticky bits sit above the existing rvm, which i think is part of the light assembly... I'll see what the destruction manual says about fitting when I get home later...
