vRS Spoiler Paint blistering!

Featured Replies

I just can't wait to hear their opinion on what the external influence is. Maybe I'm parking it wrong? Act of god?

The other point to make is the first bubble wasn't an external influence but the second one is...how did they differentiate? If it happens again I think I should have plenty of evidence.

  • Thankfully mines ok, I guess that's the benefit of having it painted in primer.

Its amazing how you manage to park in EXACTLY the same spot every time for it to be an outside influence........  :D

Maybe your drive is at the wrong angle or your home WiFi signal is too strong or some other such nonsense

It's obviously poor prep or some ingrained contamination on the spoiler! How on earth they could imply that you could influence this kind of issue is beyond me

The spoiler has been repainted AGAIN and car delivered back to me yesterday afternoon. This time they contacted LoveMans dealership (Arnold Clark Linwood) who made 5 or 6 attempts at fixing his spoiler before finally managing by leaving the paint to dry naturally rather than baking it. They have done the same on mine.

Fingers crossed.

Pretty ridiculous this isnt it!

No sign of bubble appearing since last fix so looking good. Hope jamesvrs3 get his spoiler fixed this time.

Mine has yet again developed blisters, although not to this extent! After much arguing back and forth, between the dealer, body shop, myself and skoda warranty, they've finally agreed to replace the spoiler.

Fingers crosses that might fix the problem for me!

Whilst cleaning the car this weekend, I've noticed the little blisters have returned again, this time on the right hand side of the spoiler.

Really, how can this keep happening?

It's due for service in a couple of weeks, so going to mention it to the dealership then. Although I'm not expecting much as I'm still waiting for a response to the seatbelts cutting into the plastic, since taking it in on 1st March. I'm expecting them to say it's something I'm using on the car or where I'm parking it! Funny there's none anywhere else on the car though!

Mine re-appeared. I left it until it burst as was curious as to what was under the bubble.......it turns out to be a crack and what look likes a hole which has been filled. I've taken it to an independent workshop for a report and awaiting that before accusing Skoda.

If this is a hole which has been filled then it would explain the constant bubble in the same place but wouldn't explain why a crack has appeared in the same place on a supposedly new replacement spoiler....unless of course they never used a new one like they said the did.

Well after several months of having a bubble free spoiler guess what I found the other day, another paint bubble. After numerous repair/replacements to my car spoiler I am plagued with the fact that no matter how often the spoiler gets fixed/replaced or resprayed this nemesis still returns. I am 2 years into my 3 year pcp deal and 2 months away from when I can terminate it via the 50% option. I cannot believe skoda produce a fast car with such a crap poor quality produced spoiler that can breathe, I will not be buying another skoda for as long as I live, totally fed up with this. The car has only done 5300 miles since new. Awaiting to see if skoda will yet again authorise a repair. Picture attached.

4 months up and 1 blister, going in on 29th for repair. I used to paint cars so am tempted to burst the bubble and see what is underneath and I have seen this along time ago where there

was some kind of oily residue in the plastic. I noticed a post earlier that mentioned a crack/hole that had been filled.

Perhaps they just dug out the residue and thought that was it sorted,(the unofficial/official bodge that the paint shop used).

maybe you should just buy an estate :D

Well another new spoiler has been fitted under warranty, looks good for now but I doubt it will last for another 8 months when my pcp runs out and I wave bye bye to this car and never buy another skoda again. Sad to say but after numerous attempts to solve this paint bubble spoiler problem I just don't trust it as I expect the bubbles to return at some time.
