Power steering pump Steve and any lights on dash?

no lights and no codes only since engine changed was working before

Is the angle sensor actually connected?

Mine kept going after repairing my write off, ended up being the pump connection wasn't fully clicked in, worth checking

The P.A.S system is totally separate from the engine and not be related in any way.

If its dead there WILL be a code (ok "should" be) - I assume the system was not drained for any reason?

Check the fuses, fuse number 7 in the car, and number 3 on top of the battery box. Unless the VRS uses different fuse locations, no doubt someone will pipe up if it does.

YES NEVER UNPLUGGED

Change angle Sensor and turn off caps lock. ;)

You have to consider the possibility that you caught and damaged the sensor wire while changing the engine, take the cable off and check it for continuity thoroughly.

All fuses checked, Continuity of all wires to the angle sensor checked with no problems found. although theres no lights on the dash the angle sensor code is present however when diconnecting the angle sensor and starting, light illuminates on the dash.

Which code is it for angle Sensor? Open/short or a signal issue?

Power steering should also work once the sensor is disconnected, the pump should run all the time the engine is running. Please confirm.

Once angle sensor is out, PAS system dies.  The pump is basically put in to its equivalent of limp home mode.  I had to run my car like that for 3 or 4 weeks whilst I was sorting out a complete replacement subframe/rack setup.

I thought it ran at a reduced level of assist unless the pump itself was faulty.

Assuming you have VCDS can you access the power steering module?
