8.5 x 18 alloy fitment issue.

Featured Replies

I managed to get myself a set of alloys that I really wanted to fit to my Superb.  They are 8.5 x 18, ET 43.  Tried a bare wheel on the back of the car and it looked just like I wanted it to, absolutely perfect!  So before I put tyres on them I said I'd double check by trying it on the front and they are sitting about 15mm - 20mm out beyond the arch.  Has anyone else experienced this problem.  Has anyone fitted a 8.5" wide rim on the front of a Superb without issue

I know the easiest solution would be get narrower wheels but this is not possible as I have been on to the manufacturer and they were only made in this size, with that particular offset.  And these are Magnesium alloys so changing to another brand isn't really possible or affordable.

Are you sure that is the correct size?

Since from some other posts I have seen other guys who have put 8.5 x 18, ET 45. And they sit perfectly, even a little bit inside the arch, with lowered springs.

Positive about the size, I've double checked everything.  I thought it should fit nicely too but it just looks like it is sitting too far out.  I haven't tried it with with the wheels and tyres on just the bare wheel but it doesn't look like it's going to sit properly.  Thought someone must have tried this as some stage.
