Watch your speed, unless you want to get on TV!

Just found this Hants Police are aparently doing a television programme series from 26th September for seven weeks.

If you use the M27 or the M3 this potentially affects you so please proceed with caution and pass onto anyone who you feel might just need to know.

The program a BBC South commission called "Traffic Cops" will be filmed covering the area from Ringwood concentrating on Ringwood M27 up to M3 J9 and a team working the ringroad around Southampton (Totton will have a unit working it alone), Cosham M27 stretch to J5 of the M27 (Southampton Airport turn-off).

The fourth concentration is working from Winchester Services covering M3 to J10 M3 (Winchester South) using five unmarked cars, Skodas, Mondeos & Volvos.

The BBC unit are going to be based out of a unit in Millbrook Road in Southampton and will also be covering the armed police response unit and the Southampton Airport Police Security / British Transport Police

team.

The BBC team are in Citreon Picasso MPVs

To make it even more effective the Traffic police have authority from Chief Constable to "work to rule" So instead of the laid back approach to the usual Hants traffic police this will be a lot more concentrated to make it effective filming.

At least we know where all the young hopefuls rejected from X-Factor will be for the next 7 weeks... :D

Rob.

Could be interesting on Saturday, when we all go the RR day at Southampton.

Own up..Who told Hants Constabulary that the day was on???

Excellent...I had the rare opportunity to have a drag race with a police man the other day on the motorway.

Well he'd been going at about 10mph for 30 mins, so when he let us all go it was too rude a chance to miss...got him up to 70ish just :D Then he kept going and going then up the slip road :cheat:

Wow I chance to be on the TV.............cant wait

All those planning on starring in the documentary will need:

Plenty of Briskoda stickers

One of those Homer Simpson dolls that drops its trousers in the rear window

Sticker with 'Stop persecuting skodas Hitler boy' etc

Should be great (anyone due for a ban might as well go the whole hog and top out at 146 mph and finish with a run across some fields followed by a chopper )

Cheers Stuart :)

That counts me out then as I only have a fabia vrs it doesn't go fast enough :P I'm going to miss out on all that fame! Oh my what a shame ;)

My Guess based on local knowledge is the Skodas will probably be 03 Plate & Either Black or Silver, an 05 Plate dark red Mondeo & not sure about the Ovlovs, they used to be either dark Blue or Dark Green but havent seen those around for a while

Watch out for a bright red Mondeo on the BBC shortly ;)

Chris

I have a source that claims Hampshire Police and the BBC are filming the new series of "Traffic Cops" in the Hampshire region. They are concentrating on the Portsmouth and Southampton region and up to Winchester. Filming starts at the end of September and will continue for the next 7 weeks. This means that our normally friendly and usually laid back traffic cops will be 'working to rule'. The camera teams will be accompanying the traffic police and armed response officers in their vehicles as they plod up and down the M27, M3 and surrounding area. Unmarked cars will be playing a major role in the series and we know they have a Black Skoda Octavia, Maroon Ford Mondeo and various Volvos. Go careful guys (and gals), don't want to see any of you on TV next year ;) . You have been warned!!.

reeeeepost. ;) :P

Good to have more than one "heads-up!" though. :D

I don't know where all this info is coming from, people are posting it up all over.

It was on the local Radio this morning with a statement from the Police that they will not be changing their normal practises.

It's nothing new FFS there is a current series running which features the Hampshire traffic guy's working the M27 and Portsmouth area's (Sgt John Geydon and his boys).

People are just hyping it up to be something it probably isn't.

I wont say where I heard it but the source should know what they are talking about.

Hopefully if theres enough publicity the Police will stick to their normal & generally fair methods & not follow a method which could be viewed as entrapment, it does their reputation with the public no good at all.

I personaly take the view that if Im caught doing anything I shouldnt & its done fairly I will happily take the consequences but to be stalked by unmarked cars to make a TV program is just not the way it should be, imagine being followed for miles whilst they wait for some good footage before stopping you. Ive worked with film crews & all they want is the best shots, thats what sells their product

OK Rant over, Back to work

Spotted another un-marked Octy, Silver VRS (WK 05 AHD) usual tell tail aerials on roof.

Saw this on the another site, thought it may be of use to a few of ya....................
