OIL & FILTER - Anyone ? £36.41 Good Deal or I thought so

Featured Replies

Just got back from National Tyres depot following Oil & Filter change... £36.41

2.0TDi PD engined Octi...with DPF

Basically went on-line via their web site and booked the oil change and used (DISCOUNT CODE)  DV125,

They fitted MANN Filter and FUCHS TITAN PRO C3 5w30 oil... (which meets 507.00 spec)

I thought I'd share this as I thought it was a bargain buy, just checked the oil price and that seems to hover around £38 alone plus the filter £5 and then dirty hands crawling around etc... no thanks for £36.41 I'd prefer to wait an hour in the warm reception area with a coffee.

Hope you find it helpful.

That's a bargain, and is only slightly more than doing it DIY.

No doubt they'll use that as a loss leader to suggest other "necessary" work such as your brake pads are 15% worn, do you want them changing etc.

I wouldn't trust national tyres change a tyre correctly on my van (from experience, they fitted completely the wrong spec and incorrect pressures), so I would never let them loose with a whole car to bugger things up.

+1 !!!!

I got 5 litres of Repsol 505.01 spec + a filter with free next day delivery for £27.99.

Can't complain, 1.9PD non DPF on fixed servicing.

when you do your own car you do it right. If your sitting in reception god knows what oil they will put in. Tell you its the dear stuff and put in the cheap crap. Not saying National would but many garages would.

I have always used National for a variety of cars old and new and have always found them to be excellent service and advice.

They used to use Castrol Edge by the barrel load so cant be that bad, but moving to Fuchs cant be bad either as they are good lubes not only for vehicles, but also used in all sorts of applications.

I must have had more than a dozen full sets of tires fitted by them on various cars in the last 13 years and never had a problem.

Its deffo one of those situations where certain branches are better than others, pot luck with your local branch.

And generally cant beat their value for money and offers and clucbcard points too.

Well despite the few who have obviously had issues along the line somewhere I for one am very happy with the deal and the service I received from the Brislington Road Bristol Branch. They used a MANN filter which I believe is OE (in skoda box) and I know they used the correct grade oil cos I personally stood next to the chap as he was filling his oil flask and watched him pour it in to my vehicle... I didn't even have to get my hands dirty. I priced the job up using the same oil / filter from ebay (eurocarparts) and it came out several pounds more to do the job myself.

Next job, find a towbar....

Can you find any oil specced to VW507.1? It's not listed in Etka, most recent spec is VW507.00

I've never heard of VW 507.01, only VW 507.00.
