Hit and Run - guess the make/model/reg.

Ripped the front bumper off so I'd guess it also knackered the wing and headlamp

Wow. Total bum hole. No wonder Richard wants to find them

You can see it ripped off in the video so I'm just going off of a hunch of the angles and damage normally caused from something like that

Easier said than done if the front end of your car is hanging off :(

Looking at the way he overtook and went into that roundabout I'd have given that one a miss

Its already broke just drive over it :) .... People should make a habit of shouting out the REG so its caught on the mic.... i know its shock that sends people mute.

And skipped the red light

True.. but by the looks of it he was still breaking onto the roundabout so probably didn't get very far just crawled behind the other traffic till he hit his exit. Would have loved to see it try the same with the HGV.

Guess there is no rear camera in the car?

That probably would have had a better shot of it I imagine.

Looks like the car come from the right lane so it may be the same blurry and to hard to make out the reg.

I dno. I wouldnt be bothered. Id be properly pee'd off if somebody did that to my car.

Maybe. I was thinking they might have a straighter path in a rear one, less movement across the camera so less blur possibly (similar to the van on the right). Maybe a longer run up too.

But if it isn't running one, then this is all moot anyway...

Even if you had the plates the way it was driving theres a possibility it was either on false plates or stolen, or about to miss the first 5 mins of Hollyoaks....

It's definitely worth reporting to the police. They may have it on some cameras in the area and be able to assist more.

They certainly committed several offences there so I think it needs reporting anyway.

Good point Phil,

find the bug*er on another camera

Itll be the car with a few scratches down the left hand side.

Bit difficult to say he didnt do it...

Yeah but someone else will have been driving. Someone unknown.

I'm sure if you hand the Video clip to the police they will have some expert with enhanced software to filter out things to get the reg number.

Failing that do you know anyone who works for GCHQ, they'll even tell you the drivers shoe size

I doubt they would dedicate any time or resources to it at all tbh. sub 15fps video no one will get anything out of that, reg wise anyway :(

Are there any in car cams that record at a higher frame rate / quality?

Presume this was on a Blackvue?

I thought all damage accidents had to be reported to the police

I thought you just had to report it to your insurance company?

The last time I reported a minor accident to the police they couldn't give a a t0ss. Had to insist they recorded it. :(

Pretty sure you do have to report any accidents to the police, thats what i thought anyway.

They'll give you an accident number n that.

I did it when somebody ran infront of me on the bike last year. I hit her. She ran off for some reason.

I phoned police to report and they said its always a good idea, incase anything ever comes of it, you're covering yourself

My BlackVue DR380G HD can be set to run either 15fps or 30fps.

Given the low level of light and the speed of the offending vehicle, I doubt even 30fps would have captured its reg number.

Right :) guess the lower frame rate was to increase memory capacity.

Not wanting to highjack this thread but I've been thinking about getting an in-car cam, and whilst the general quality of the footage in the clip posted here is good, it hasn't captured the vital details needed.

I appreciate there are a number of factors that were working against the OP here, low light, speed of object & low frame rate, but was just wondering if that could of been captured on a different camera?

The the OP, I hope you manage to track down the little scrote :)
