5 speed gearbox.....3 speed cruise control

Featured Replies

Hi, I have had my estate for over 3 years, the cruise control works perfectly in 2nd, 3rd,4th but not in 5th, any ideas why. (For nearly 3 years I thought it was just me that was doing something wrong). Lots of bits on forum about cc but not this. Help

What you doing wrong, why are you using CC in 2nd 3rd gears.

Thanks for reply. What I'm saying this is the only gears that it works in, I agree in why would you want Cc in 2nd but not 5th

Mine drives much more smoothly in 4th at 30mph and helps the speed from creeping up.  A little tip from the naughty boys class.

3rd - maybe,  2nd - nah.

There was a spate of folk having difficulties with the switch on the stalk a few months back.  This is apparently an easy thing to change or clean.

Maybe of use.

The problem for me is I want to know how to get it to work in 5th gear for use on the open road.

Conduct a scan with VCDS and use measuring blocks to test the cc switch and the brake and clutch switch. The car might not realise it is in gear when moving from 4th to 5th and therefore not work.

To be honest, I was more worried that you could be behind me using the CC when driving about Moray. It is an odd problem though.

First of all Live Data readings, I presume that vehicle don't 'see' selected gear... in your case-5th.
