What's this under my bonnet

Featured Replies

Just thought I'd have a quick look at my pipes for splits and noticed this completely open and not capped off? Is it the ASV pipe? Shouldn't this have a plate to cap it off?

also found these lying about guess these are the vacuum for the asv or egr and the electrics to go with? Shouldn't the vac pipe have a bolt in to cap it off? And will that connector be ok lying like that?

and lastly what's this? It's under where the egr would of been and doesn't look to me like it should be there?

any help for a novice?

The screw from the egr delete is for a boost gauge.

The first picture looks like part of the egr valve that was deleted. Should be removed/ blanked off.

The vac pipes should be capped yes

I don't know what the connector is for though sorry

Cheers pal... I should if mentioned it's the blt engine..

The first pic is on the back right of the engine on the opposite side of egr, had engine running and it's not sucking or blowing?

The cable will be egr I think? Sure I read that blt was electric operated not vacuum like the older?

I didn't mean the screw mate I know what that is lol... That pic was to show that the final 2 pics that look like a piece of lead is directly below that.

That plug goes to the EGR ...I imagine you must have fault lights on in the clocks?

I suspect that is your now "out of use" EGR cooler which the BLT engine has.  To be honest, surprised it wasn't just entirely removed unless that's a pain due to the water connections.

That plug goes in the anti shudder valve. It looks like some one has fitted a asz egr delete to your blt and as a result you've lost your anti shudder valve.

Your first picture shows the egr cooler which is now only serving as a route for your coolant as now no exhaust gases are going through it. I removed mine because I didn't like the thought of it being there doing nothing. Only problem is rerouting your coolant hoses.

You can buy nice little rubber caps off eBay which you can put on the relevant connection on your n75 then you can lose the redundant vacuum pipe which was for your now deleted egr valve.

On the first pic, is it supposed to be 'capped' off or will it be fine as is?

What do I search for to find these caps on ebay?

Thanks

Also what's the negatives of not having that vac pipe capped off?

Cheers

So long as it is capped at you exhaust manifold your fine. You'd know about it if it wasn't lol. I'll dig the eBay link out when I get home from work tonight for the caps.
