Hope the MK3 vRS petrol is gooood!?!

Featured Replies

Ok, bought 60 plate candy white petrol vRS from new, been an absolute joy to own and drive over last 4 years (has never let me down), looked after like one of the family, had no intention of replacing so quickly but longer I left it the bigger loan I'd have to get to bridge trade in on new car, great deal (I think) on a ex demo T FSI DSG, 64 plate, under 2k, elec sunroof, black design pack, bluetooth, spare wheel, on configurator list price was 26500 ish, I know nobody pays list but thought it was too good to not, colour is the corrida red, not my first choice but different and with the black pack thought it sets it off, growing on me, 19k, paid deposit, haven't seen in metal and 260 miles away [emoji15] I hope I enjoy the DSG and I don't miss my trusty partner of 4 years too much [emoji7][emoji17]

I'm on the lookout for something similar to replace my 59 plate vRS which I've had for the past 3.5 years. Must have - VRS TSI DSG Estate, Gemini alloys. Would like (unlikely), pano roof, canton, Grey or White.

Think you'll love it. I didn't own a MkII VRS - I had a Scout - but the MkIII feels like a serious step up to me.

I'm on 22.5k miles on my 63 plate VRS TSI DSG and have to say I'm loving every minute, totally reliable and dependable, does everything I ask of it. I use mine for work and often ask a lot of my cars, the VRS just does it with a big fat smile.

The 2.0TSI is a peach of an engine.

On a good run I can achieve 44mpg, best pre map was nearly 50mpg (although the engine screams to be driven so this level of economy isn't easy) and for a car with such a balanced performance capability, I'm well pleased.

Lovely dollop of torque make this even in stock mode an easy car to drive.

Now it's been mapped to over 330bhp and 360flbt, it's made a great car/engine and absolute beast.

Enjoy it, I've enjoyed mine for over a year now and still look forward to getting in and driving my car.

My preference was estate too mate, white, black or blue, with black pack, had to be petrol as well for me mate due to low mileage, wouldn't of minded the extreme alloys to set it off but looking at other prices think I struck lucky, always look on autotrader and petrols are few and far between compared to diesels.

Really gonna miss me mk2 vrs tho, best car I've ever owned, great value :))

Thanks Telboy, you made me smile after reading that and 330 bhp [emoji15][emoji4] sounds class mate, car looks good btw, those the Gemini wheels in black, thinking of getting the new ones from anthracite to satin black to go with the red and black [emoji6]

I too love my Mk2. Recently got it mapped and am loving it even more.

My next shall be a Mk3 estate. Must haves for me would be black pack, DSG, Columbus, extreme 19" alloys, Canton in either white, grey or blue. Haven't found one with that spec yet though..

Certainly surprises a few people  :D cheers for the kind comments on my car, cracking motor Skoda have made to be honest, best car I've ever owned to date. Re the wheels, they are indeed the Gem's, redone in black, really helps finish the car off. Let us know how you get on with yours mate.

Really gonna miss mine mate, got quite attached to her, sounds like a decent combo you've got there, finding exactly what you want is a pain, always something missing, you after petrol or diesel? [emoji6]

Telboy haha I bet mate, no probs will do, pick up is 29/12 round trip of 600 miles / 12 hours, will be mixed emotions [emoji22][emoji17]

i would like to see this 330hp remap proven on an independent reliable dyno.

Thanks mate, heard the interior and quality is much improved.

Not sure where you heard that....I was very disappointed as it felt quite thin and cheap.

In general terms heard it was improved, how was it 'thin' like?! Was it that bad?!

Lots of famous companies like abt, mtm, oct etc offer power upgrade on these engines to ~300Ps.

I would really like to have such power in a sleeper like Octavia, my only fear would be how long before I would get use to it :P

Hi stuy1. My current was an ex demo and was only six months old when I got her. A week into the stage one Revo map and am enjoying her even more. I'm looking for a petrol again.

I bet it'll be mixed emotions, after all the MK2 is a cracking motor in its own rights, certainly a car that I believe could go on and on. Then there's the MK3, yet again a great car, just taking things on a notch or two, especially in the engine department ;-) You won't be disappointed mate, enjoy  :D

Gladly, you provide the dyno in Dorset and pay for it and I'll gladly provide the car  :D

I've had GPS verified sprint times to 60 mph of 5.2 seconds (with a bad start) so pretty sure my car is producing it's claimed quote or near to. Even so, I had several runs on the dyno when it was mapped with the worst run giving just under 320bhp and best at 346bhp, go figure.

I'm not that bothered to be honest on what it is, all I do know is how it drives out on the road and for me it was always about the midrange as with any power around the 300bhp+ mark, you're not going to be able to put the power down unless it's bone dry and you have the prefect launch. That's why I wanted the car to perform better in the real world/midrange and with almost 368flbt in a car weighing 1.37t, it shifts when I need it to  :D

Whatever it was, be it 280bhp, 3500bhp (just kidding), it's important to get in and put some mileage on the car and ensure the map gives you what you are looking for, after all I'd put 20k miles on the stock engine so pretty sure I know the difference between where it was to where it is now - trust me it is night and day!

Regarding the interior. I thought it was a slight improvement from the Mk2 (not Audi level obviously). The thing I didn't like was the new accelerator pedal. Much prefer the large hinged one from the Mk2.

Telboy. Your car sounds awesome. Has your economy dipped? Mine dropped by 5mpg since the remap.

Stuy enjoy the new car. Congratulations.

MPG has to be honest although I expected it.

Best return pre map was 50.3mpg believe it or not.

Best I've got since on similar route was 44.1mpg.

Give it the beans and it certainly likes to drink, however I'm returning anywhere between 35-38 depending on the run where as before I could easily achieve 40-45.

I think it's something to do with the addictive nature of the power delivery, I just can't stop myself pressing the go faster pedal  :D  :D

You can't worry about the mpg when you have that kind of power on tap. Bet you're going through the rubber :)

Ture, however use the car for work to so have two modes of driving, like Miss Daisy when I can claim through work and the second mode needs no introduction  :D

Tyre wise, not too bad, had the map on for about 3k miles and all good, at the moment anyways,.. :D

Was your map done by Revo. Can't recommend them enough. Any plans on going further?

Agree with that about the accelerator pedal.
