Or due to the over weight load on a vehicle (vehicle capability not driver limits) one corner can quite happily dig in and flip the whole unit.

  • Yes. Its only when it strays over 3.5 ton that an additional trailer licence is needed. Or atleast i think thats what my local training centre told me. The trailer test is about the same as the bi

  • The Yeti fits that category; a shade under 1500kg with a towing weight of 2000kg - do you know of one you could borrow?

  • My understanding (passed in 2011) is that you can have a train weight of up to 3500kg, but the towing limit of the towing vehicle mustn't be exceeded. So if you could find a 1500kg car with a towing l

So with just a cat b and not b+e I can drive a 1500kg Yeti (with towing capacity of 2000kg) with a 500kg trailer and a 1000kg car on the trailer

If the yeti's towing weight is 2000kg chances are its MAM is pretty high. You'd need to find out what it is. If its mam is 2000kg then the trailers MAM would need to be 1500kg or less, find out the Maximum authorised mass of the yeti and the trailer and post them up and i can tell you

Example,

My XC90's chassis plate reads

1, 1300kg

2, 1470kg

3, 2735kg

4, 4985kg

first 2 are axle weights front and rear, 3rd number is cars max kerb weight (quiet why 1 and 2 don't add upto 3 am not sure, sweedish logic there somewhere am sure)

4th one is MAM,

Without trailer licence i can tow a trailer with a plated weight of 765kg, 3rd number deducted from 3500kg

With my trailer licence i can tow a trailer with a plated weight of 2250kg, 3rd number deducted from 4th number

I can actually tow a trailer with a higher plated weight than 2250kg with trailer licence, but am limited to 2250kg max trailer weight due to xc90's towing capacity

The MAM of most of the diesel 4x4 Yeti's is 2000kg, however if the OP tows a load in excess of the Yeti's kerb weight he will be breaking the Law, as he has the later licence.

What i meant is, the yeti is going to have a high MAM and so is his trailer. Both MAMs have to total 3500kg or less otherwise b+e is needed.
