Finally got home from work, picked the trailer up, got home, loaded the car onto it, prep has been brief, I connected the battery lead and voila! it started and got loaded

See you in the morning, I will also possibly go for a bite afterwards depending how the day goes.....

 Safe journeys guys.

Back home early now and just watched the video back of when the Brisk Rover broke. Lost drive on a down shift, pretty sure it's just the clutch that's gone, as before it went I was having trouble selecting gears. Can't be arsed take it apart tonight, tomorrow though...

Great day Haydn, the Golf also failed after you left, we managed to borrow a bolt to sort out the wastegate problem only to go on and blow a hole in the gasket between the turbo and manifold, so we loaded up and also left earlyish.

Cherry turbo

I'd blame your lad for that, he was muttering stuff about manifolds :D

Oulton Park looks like a car breaker! How was it when you were running?

It's a nice circuit, I was just getting the hang of it before the car broked.

We didn't do many more laps after people vanished.

I got a bit over confident, ran a bit wide and ended up covered in mud and rather sheepish.

Oops. I'd still go back.

I barely made it to petrol garage :), was a good day, touch wood evo performed flawlessly, except for how quick the front brakes wore down lol uploading some vids and pics now,

Not much meat left on these

Been twice, would love to back again.  Probably my 2nd favourite track after Cadwell.

Excellent pics Trev!

Jabo, OP is not a car breaker, it is varied circuit with some high speed straights and technical corners on varying elevations, it is great for getting to know your car and understanding how to find the best lines.  I have to agree with Jason, OP and Cadwell are probably the two best circuits in the UK

I am sure there will be a few more track days at Oulton Park this year.

Nice pics and video.

Could only be improved by the addition of the fastest Skoda of the day in the video.

I was the only Skoda on track.

It was a wet and slippery morning (as you can see from my ploughing excursion) but the afternoon dried up nicely.  It was really cold though, wind was bitter, I have only just warmed through now  :coffee: I got home and didn't even unload the car, it is on the trailer outside the house.

Hissy's, I was trail braking and out braked myself into the right hander, back end went light, a slight correction and then an over correction and you see what happened in the clip.     I ran out of talent

Compared to November, that was deffo a dry day :D

Miserable baR stewards ;) was just an idea but yeah there's a lot of long journeys tomorrow :)

How was the Clios first outing mate?

Good fun the little thing performed flawlessly. Put a smile on Jon's face when he took it out and Jamie's lad had a go in it and came back with a big grin :)

Edit: does anyone have the link for the pictures, when they're uploaded?

They will be HERE  on Flickr.

I know it is not a real car breaker, I should have added a "wink" emoticon perhaps :). Opentrack events are long and will highlight any issues with any car on any track I suppose.

I watched your vid James, it looks like a technically difficult track, very narrow with challenging sequences of corners i.e. great fun!

I do not envy you being outdoors all day in that cold though! I spent two hours watching my lad doing his school cross country race - horizontal slushy rain with wind chill making it feel like -20C and those 12 year old boys were running around in shorts and short sleeves!

I will be doing Oulton Park this year for sure. Friend lives in Birmingham so I would stay overnight at his and then we would both drive in the morning.

Just about to start taking the car apart. In the meantime I've been researching replacement clutches. As it happens, I'll be passing Mardi Gras Motorsport tomorrow so it'd be rude not to pop in for this:

Great find and a fairly easy fix

Great and not too expensive either.
