Interior lights

Featured Replies

From the LED-Perf website, a installation CD is included with videos on how to replace the bulbs. If so, would somebody mind sharing these on Youtube or some other video streaming site? Only had the car for 2 days and don't want to wreck any trims in the process.

It's not a video, it's PDF written in French.  I'm sure somebody mentioned before that it's copyright and watermarked so they didn't share it as it could cause issues.  To be fair the only instructions you need are the ones for the mirrors.  All the other stuff is fairly straight forward requiring only a trim removal tool.  The number plate and indicator replacement instructions are in the car's manual.

This thread has instructions for some of the interior lights: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/326229-mk-3-octy-interior-light-requirements-for-led-replacement/

Steve I've gotta say, I was more than impressed with LedPerm when I used them for all my front lights, speed of delivery, quality of products and zero errors, you can't really ask for much more can you, O a bit cheaper but then you'd be in the Chinesse situation, different colours, errors, returns a Fn nightmare.  No thanks !

Any chance you can list the bulbs required and a rough figure they cost ?

Regards

Yeah, that was my concern with Chinese bulbs from an unknown source.......

From the sheet the bulbs where attached is the following detail:

7 x T10 Led Motion - White - Light Side - No dash error W5W (Glove box, boot (x2), Footwell (x4)) These have the light on one side, so are fitted light to the lens side.

2 x Special VW T10 OBC (Licence Plate - resistors pre-wired)

5 x Bulb T10 efficacity 5 white LEDs TL (w5w) Interior ceiling lights - had to be fitted one way only to work

2 x Led Bulb T10 Xtrem V1 HP White (w5w) Door mirror lights

The full set was around £65 with delivery, so defo not cheap - but will have the car for at least another 30 months and with Xenons and LED side/running lights they look spot on!

I'm well impressed with the kit.  The white is perfect and matches the overhead ambient LEDs and looks really good when fitted.

The advantage of the LED-Perf way is that by taking the back cover off the mirror you can release the clips that hold the mirror glass in place so it doesn't really require any force to remove the glass and minimizes the chances of breaking the glass.  That guy in the SuperSkoda video is a bit ham-fisted for my liking

I know what you mean - especially when he forces the cover off. Ouch!

I found I could get the cover off just using a plastic pry tool - but couldn't see the clips holding the mirror in place, so went with the 'force' and hope....thankfully all ok. And as you say - use the mirror heating first to leave the plastic a little less brittle :D

The clips were a bit difficult to spot, but a torch helped.  The instructions didn't help that much as I think the red circles on the photos are a bit off and not exactly where the clips are.  The one on the outside of the mirror is easy to see as it's a big metal clip.  The two along the top edge are a bit more difficult to see as they're black.

Thanks Steve, I'll take a look at those when my car fund recovers from the K7 I've just got for cleaning the damn thing.

Mine turned up today, I've done rear interior, boot and glovebox but I'm struggling with the front interior lights. Does the whole panel have to come off or just the clear covers?

Need to get number plate lights from LEDPerf still.

Just the clear covers. If you check the link I posted earlier, in post 26, to the ambient light upgrade thread there's a photo in post 28

Cheers, but mine doesn't look like that... I'll go and have a poke around. It must be the whole panel that pops out, just doesn't feel like it.

This help? Just been out and removed mine and took two photos

Yeah, gave me the confidence to give it a proper pry, thank you! All done now. :-)

You can turn them off in the infotainment under the lighting section.  You can also control how bright they are when acting as ambient lights.  Opening the doors causes them to go to 100% brightness and they go back to the preset level/off when the doors are closed.

Thank you,

since I'm not fond of lights for my own feet (being me the driver), I just simply unplugged the whole light unit. BTW, it was rather warm even if today it's just a couple of degrees above 0°C (wasted energy warning).

I think footwell lights are good for passengers only (children with toys, wife with its eta-beta bag and so on).

Have a great year you all!

Are they festoons or T10 (5W5)?

Anyone replaced the vanity light bulbs in the sun visors?

Are they festoons or T10 (5W5)?

I was after info as I am in the process of changing Leon and Octavia interior lights to LEDs. I forgot to order extra festoons for the vanity mirror lights on the Leon and was placing a new order. After having Octavia returned after 2 weeks at the dealers I have discovered the answer is neither on the VRS as it doesn't have vanity mirror lights!

.... you don't get them on an L&K either!

On the plus side, the fact that I forgot that they were there in the case of the Leon or did not know they were not there on the Octavia shows just how essential putting makeup on in the dark is to me...

.... you don't get them on an L&K either!

That's something I didn't even consider...I don't think I've had a car with no vanity lights since the 90s. (I guess my wife will have to use the interior lights if she wants to touch up her makeup in the car.)

Can anyone expand on how to remove the rear interior lights on an Octavia estate WITH glass roof? I've watched the YouTube tutorial but that hasn't worked. I tried a bit too hard and now one of mine is a bit loose so lost my courage to keep trying! PITA.

Cheers.

If you turn the light on you will find you can then compress the metal clip at the end with the zero on. Use something plastic to push it in.

Does the pano roof have the circular position switch in the centre and two clear plastic lenses (semi circular at one end and flat at the other) and 36mm festoon bulbs? If so I find it easier to use a trim removal tool (or 8 to 10 mm wide flat bladed screw driver) to remove the 2 lenses - leave the lights on for a couple of minutes to warm up the plastic so that it is not brittle. Insert the tool between the outer flat edge of the lens and the outer side of the light unit, and slowly push in an upwards direction. As you remove the tool this is generally enough to pop the flat edge of the lens proud from the light unit. You can then prise the lens out from the unit by pulling it in an outward direction (ie. towards the door).

The ones in the rear are similar to the Mk4 Golf interior lights

Ok - ignore my post above!

I'll remove mine later and get a piccie of the metal clip then it all makes sense.

Yes, they look quite similar to that ^^

I bought that pack, plus a swag of others (LED numberplate lights, LED reversing lights, LED indicators, LED Fogs, LED Sidelight in xenons)

From Left to right - Mirror lights, Footwell lights/Glovebox lights, Front roof lights (i.e. the map lights above the gearstick that you can click on or off, or have on "door")

Trying to work out what the trunk/boot light is in this pack, only looking to replace that one but can't seem to find a listing for it - would you have the docket or be able to remember? cheers
