Hatch and Spaceback, is the front grill surround the same size?

Featured Replies

Hi, if anyone can confirm that the grill surround is the same on both Hatch and spaceback?

Monte Carlo Black surrounds are available from Skoda for £76 + Vat so will order for my Sport if they are the same as this is surly cheaper than painting or wrapping?

Cheers

I wouldn't pay £9.99 just to look that up though. I'll suss it out somehow. It can't be as bad as my Citigo was [emoji57]

Rapid Monte Carlo grille is now available... got a phone call from my dealer this morning to say it had arrived and picked it up straight away.

Expected it to be painted metal alloy but it appears to be made of the flexible type of plastic they use for the front wings on some cars, and it's definately one of the most expensive bits of plastic I've ever purchased (almost on a par with the wheel arch extensions for the Audi Q7) but will make the car (Spaceback Black Edition) look so much better... the chrome grille just looks wrong.

Will have a go at removing the grille tomorrow and fitting it and post pics if successful... can't be that difficult!

Would be great to see this [emoji106]

I agree the price is ridiculous for painted plastic!

There's a few of us waiting to see how the grille comes off so hopefully you can teach us how to do it [emoji16]

Yay, looking forward to this too

I managed to get the garage's instruction on how to remove the bumper on the Civic. I would've thought that the Rapids would be floating around in cyberspace somewhere

I've tried always to look for a How to but there's nothing available (for free).

Even Skodas part catalogue is useless. The top screws are fine it's just a matter of what's at the bottom holding it.

You've reported so much wrong with your car I would have thought it was a good investment ;)

Happy New Year

I've got some bad news for people looking to replace the front grille the front bumper need to be removed to get at all the bolts that holds on the grille. It's the some thing for all new skoda's the grille is part of the bumper.

They sell the grille assembly seperate so it can't be part of the bumper. There must be clips at the bottom.

There are many EPCs that are worse lol VW's ETKA system is one of the better ones

Others have removed the grille without having to first remove the bumper, so I'll remain optimistic for now... where there's a will there's a way!

Was going to try and tackle it today but hangover dictated otherwise, and besides, it's forecast to be sunny over here tomorrow which will make what might be a lengthy and annoying task a little more bearable.

Will report back as and when!

Everything is much more fun when you can't see clearly [emoji106][emoji16]

I've mentioned here before that I had work done on my 64 rapid liftback. The front grill was removed while the bumper was on. Its just the screws at the top and then clips.
