Bluetooth USB Dongles

Featured Replies

The wife and I both have Nokia 6230 phones, and occasionally use the cameras, the bugger is we can't actually get the photos onto our PC (without subscribing to additional services from our mobile service providers). I know you can get data cables etc for these phones but have had bad experiences in the past - i.e. they don't work as they should or not at all.

I'm thinking about buying a USB bluetooth dongle thingy, they seem pretty cheap, can we then just transfer files backwards and forward by bluetooth ? I presume we need to pair the phone to the dongle, but other than that, is it that simple ? And is bluetooth suitable for setting up network connections to (for example) a laptop ?

yup, yup, and yup :)

yeah, will need the nokia software but its freeware from the nokia site :)

bluetooth for connecting laptops would be she-ite

I have one, but when I install it it knocks the ability to use my router out. So sadly I cannot use mine anymore. I've found that data cables are fine for most phones as long as you buy an official product. I agree that 3rd party ones may be a bit useless.

Nice one. I'm going the Ebay route, any particular types I should go for or avoid ?

I bought a cheapy on fleabay and it works really well with my SE S700i, I also use the phone as a dialup modem from the laptop using the BT dongle.

Got one !

I use a bluetooth dongle to network the laptop - it is pretty poor over anything more than a few metres but is fine for web browsing in the same room.

I bought mine for a tenner from ebay, from Hong Kong. Took 2 weeks, but I can move files to and from, and for a technophobe, that isnt bad

Mine is a bit hit and miss with my Motorola V525 but works ok with Nokias and allows you to browse the image and sound directories and add/remove files from them on Sony Ericsson phones.

I have a Nokia 6230 and an Orange bluetooth dongle and find it very hit and miss to actually get a connection between the two and, if I manage to get one, to keep it...

Nokias are a royal pain in the backside for sync and the previous one I had was even worse - i.e. only ONE model Nokia BT adaptor would work (and even that was unreliable).

The new ones appear to work a little better. These days I use a cable and connect it via USB - 100% success rate and not too expensive either :)

got mine cheap at argos

Also have a Nokia 6230i with cheapo (

I agree about the motorola software. The interface looks good but in reality it's dire and very unstable.
