Just get an RNS 510 and be done with it!

Really finishes off the interior especially with the highline display too so you will get integration with that.

As my car is older i need my gateway upgraded as well. A bloke on the r32oc forum sells the rns510 and upgraded can gateway inc all cables for a decent price . It looks simple to fit so gonna save up my pennies I think

Yeah it's simple enough to fit.

The hardest part will be accessing the can gateway. Having said that with yours being an 07 plate it could well be behind the glovebox which makes it very easy.

Your other option is to buy a slightly older unit with older firmware and the battery drain fix firmware installed.

First fault on the golf today . Cruise control not working! Had a little dig around the net and it seemed a common fault so thought I would take it apart and see what's going on. Easy to do, the back of the indicator stalk just under clips. Then the switches and board just unplug.

The contacts for the on off part seemed very black

Took the bits into the kitchen and removed the electronic board. Cleaned the contact rail with very fine sandpaper and a bit of cleaner.

Working cruise control now !

I have ordered a MDI kit from the r32 forum with loom and adapter to fit my iPhone . For this to fit I needed to buy a new arm rest casing and accessories. Also ordered an aux port and wiring loom. This won't work until I buy the rns510 so that's next on the list.

Thanks for the offer I wish you was nearer ! It needs a good going over with a DA polisher . I have no idea how they got that bad, I have read you can fit the mk6 golf ones but I had already fitted these standard ones :( I am really tempted by milltek resonated cat back , a lot of people are tempting me lol. I love the look of those r36 there is one going round my way

If you want to try a DA out on it give us a shout in the summer :)

Picked up some ICE car parts today . Tps don't sell the loom for the aux port so I have asked a ice guru on the forum for some advice lol. Had a spare key done today as well at VW hereford (great service btw) . I need to purchase the rns510 and canbus gateway now once I accumulate some dollar lol.

Pay day today so bought the rns510 unit version R. Lots of different versions out there . This one runs the SSD drive which is apparently faster than the older HDD (how true that is I don't know) . Also LED display I think.

Talking to Eddie on here, (knowledge is insane) his guide sorted my aux loom out so I've got the wired into the Mdi loom . Eddie said he can fit the unit and the console etc so a long drive is gonna be worth it . All this has cost me a lot of money so don't fancy fitting it myself ha

Have you done the 'flapper' mod to your exhaust?

If you want a decent exhaust with the best of both worlds then look at one of these...

http://www.powervalve.co.uk/

A lot of boys on the Mk5 forum have them. They're quiet when you want them to be, and sound amazing when you want some fun!

They seem very good alex, just listened to a few videos and they sound ace. Im so undecided on what to do, a lad at work had an r32 few years back and he just said to do the flapper mod. Just like that exhaust you linked, the stock exhaust has a valve which opens up at a certain rpm . You can take the signal pipe off so it stays open all the time .

I curbed my alloy last week (gutted) so had it re done again. Luckily it didn't cost me a penny as the lad who I'm buying the sat nav unit off refunded me some money for the delay of receiving my RNS. The car is booked in with South hereford vw for a service in March. They price matched my local vw specialist so thought may as well take them up on the offer. Just can't wait for the sat nav unit to come then make the trip to see Eddie to have it all fitted.

Just got the car back from vw after having its service. They picked up my rear high level brake light wasn't working. So found a guide on mk5 forum and just done that job now. (Not a pretty job lol)

Other things I need to sort is replace my rear tyre it's down to 2mm so very borderline lol. Also my rear pads are 90% worn and heavy lipped discs. Planning on doing the brakes this month then payday will be some new tread as they are all mis match.
