So there is going to be a Leon ST Cupra 280

Featured Replies

The salesman obviously didn't mention that so I thought there was only one version was available! :|

Anyone using the Seat Sound System and if so, comments about it's quality compared to the standard setup please.

If you are remotely an audiophile, then it is very disappointing. It's a one note bass wonder resonating boom box. The FL Mk2 Octy estate has a much better balanced sound, if not as loud or as yoof impressive.

  • I'm not sure I'd mind about the noise if I had a car which can lap the Nordscheife in under 8 minutes (not many family hatches can do that) Sometimes it's better not to draw attention to yourself

  • Keith, this is a seat thread. You've already got a Golf one, now bugger off!

And vice versa for me. It all came down to price / availability. However, if Alfa made something remotely as good as either, I'd be in one tomorrow and you wouldn't hear the end of it! :)

For a moment then I thought this was the 'R' thread! ;)

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. Having driven a standard cupra 280 back to back with my M135i the seat felt significantly slower. The power and torque deficit was very evident (purely in my opinion of course).

I'm sure your mapped car would be a different kettle of fish :-)

It's academic, unless you're into willy waving (and I know you're not Tom, so not aimed at you!).

I have a problem with impatience, and have to drive a lot with my work, around 2k - 3k a month. Living in westest Wales means I have to use a lot of trunk roads, so overtaking quickly and without any hassle from other drivers is probably my #1 priority. It's also the #1 reason why I didn't got for blinged up M car, because sadly they are a red rag to many wannabee bulls out there, and frankly I couldn't be a***d with the hassle. Hence a Skoda Octy, and now a relatively understated remapped shopping trolley is about as good a compromise as I could think of.

Well, I already posted a placeholder for a 500+ bhp Alfa Giulia thread. It's sat there, a sleeper, waiting for the right moment.... :)

Those wheels are f'ing awful, Rebecca on the other hand . . . . . . . .

I'd want the car with those wheels if I bought one.

I'd take the car as is......................

so long as she came with it & we could test out the firmness of the springs & the space with the rear seats folded flat........... :x

Seriously the "orange pack wheels" are defo bright.........

The fact that Skoda are not shoe-horning the 280 engine into the vRS speaks volumes (annoyingly) - They know that it would take sales from the ST and the R due to the mahoosive boot.

I would place a cheeky bet however, that:

1. There is a vRS 280 mule at Skoda

2. There are several police forces interested in a vRS 280

3. Several people here would pre-order it here the moment is was announced ;)

Skoda Superb 280 AWD Estate or Hatch will do the job very well for Traffic Work & Dogs you would think.

Ouch then. I've got an FL Mk2 octy estate and I think even that's not brilliant: I think there's a boost in the low bass that makes kick drums sound thumpy; turning down the bass in the eq to remove it then makes the higher bass too weak. It's like having a bad version of "loudness" turned on all the time.

A well driven hot hatch chasing a proto probably driven by the ceo. I know which one I'd have. Re comparison to the M135i the EVO lot placed it well behind the leon and the golf, and something else as I recall.

Interesting sub-review, in the Hot hatch section of TG Sept edition mag.

The ST is on my shopping list for this summer. Along with a octy vrs diesel and be 230 (wow that'll be fast...) the Alfa if it ever gets here, and a 330d estate. All I know is I want an estate again.

My new car thread -

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/381776-999poochs-next-car/

Summary below if you can't be bothered to read the full thread.

BMW 340i

RS3 (if lease prices reduce by more than 10%)

BMW 330e

Mercedes c350e

Golf R

Yeti (not sure which one)

BMW 335xd

Ford RS (unlikely as lease deals unlikely to be good)

BMW 135i

M5

Half of those are unlikely, but Im hankering after the RS3 if a good deal comes up. The M5 was on a stonking deal pre-New Year, at £499/month. It's now over £600, so that's out unless it comes back down. Trouble is BMW only guarantee their rates into the following quarter so I can't order until 1 April.

I'm just waiting & watching at the moment :)
