Bluetooth Retrofit FL VRS

Featured Replies

Hi,

As i have no Bluetooth module under any of the front seats, I have bought a full module and wiring harness to plug into my Columbus headunit.

I know it will be a bit tricky to do, but has anyone ever fitted a full kit into an Octavia FL, and would it be easier to put module under passenger seat (Left) than Drivers side, as seen previously in my brothers FL VRS (already fitted when purchased car). I have seen thread on fitting mic, just wondered how difficult it would be to feed harness for module under the carpet.

Many Thanks,

Rik

Its not that tricky to do.  Passenger side is easier as it is easier to remove the glovebox than drop the the trim on the driver side.  Some put it behind the climate unit though and that is easier again (but obviously not quite so accessible in future).

I did this in my facelift and placed the unit behind the air con front facia as its only inches deep.. The facia has 4 screws and the module fits a treat took 10 minutes. The hardest bit was getting the head unit back in with all the extra plugs and wiring.

i retrofitted the 9wz module into mine a few years back now.

fitted the module behind the climatronic controls.

utilised the factory fitted mic that came with the columbus for voice control.

it was literally plug n play.
+1 on the hardest bit being getting the headunit back in with all the connectors/plugs.

link of my installation here.

I also done this took head unit out and climate control panel really easy to do also plenty of room to fit it really easy to run mic and antenna upto the window aswel.... was a pig to get head unit back with added plugs so expect scratches and little cuts like said... I did have to active Bluetooth with vcds coding but took no time at all.

I also fitted a BT module behind the climatronic unit.

I had to cut the tabs off the BT module to get it to fit. The most difficult part was getting the loom adapter to fit behind the head unit, it's tight.

Behind the climate control for me as well, found it pretty easy to do and I just stuck it down with some velcro from memory. For fitting everything back, I found it easiest to take out the top centre vents so you can pull the look to the side/up as you put the stereo back in.

God damn... I thought this installation was going to be a walk in the park... :nerd:

The microphone has to go all the way up to the "box" where the sunglasses-room is located, or do I get it wrong here..?

Does anyone know if there is any good installing instructions ? ( where to connect which cables, etc.. ; )

I have radio swing in my Octy FL 2011, and bought the OEM bluetooth parts from Ales @ Skodateile.cz .. ;)

I`ve already retrofitted MFSW :)

The mic is easy to install, the A pillar trim pulls off and you can feed it along the gap between the top of the windscreen and the headlining.

If you have airbags in the A pillar it's a different story :)

That's right, I thought it'd be hard but was pretty easy really. I used a wire coat hanger to pull the mic wire from the unit and through the dash, coming out on the passenger side. The A pillar cover pulls off (I've got some bojo tools for this) and then just pull the roof lining down a little so you can push the wiring in.

Sorry this has probably been asked to death.  If I want to add it to my Bolero, how much am I looking to pay, assuming I don't have the BT module (haven't looked yet).

About 150quid for module loom and mic.

Is that all? Hmm, Was looking to spend ~£80 on parott but I'd much prefer an OEM integration... Best start saving the pennies :D

What phone do you have?

Nope

Ahh. This is where we need help. Will a 5N0 035 730 B module still work?

It can't be paired without maxidot sadly.

That particular one, or all BT modules?

That particular one, or all BT modules?

Pretty sure that one (and maybe some others). I too have been considering this for some time, have read the plethora of threads on here and looked at various other sites but am still a little bit confused about which unit would work with my car: 2011 registered VRS, no maxidot and Bolero radio....I think there may be many options...
