Don't you just hate it when a simple job falls down at the first step

Featured Replies

Just had to change headlight bulb on the drivers side so fair enough press the clips to open the rear cover and both of the break. Sod's law isn't it.

Just need to know what the wire loop clip that locate on the bottom of the cover holds in place whilst the cover is off and I'm waiting for a replacement I don't really want something falling off whilst I'm still driving round

Think they rook on a small notch in the plastic cover

Ah I know that bit just wondered what the other end is attached to

Doesn't it clip into shell and hold bottom of headlight in place?

You can use self tappers to hold rear cover on when clips break, works well :)

Push cover into place and screw down thew hole in light into rear cover.

Not sure which clip he means. Mine just has plastic covers with no metal bits on them. Can't see anything on partscats either.

It's a spring clip with a wire loop. It's only on drivers side

Sorry I can't help directly with the problem at hand.

I can definitely sympathise and say an emphatic 'yes' to the question in the title.

One of my 'favourite' situations is when I get some time, weather and inclination together all at the same time, to tackle a job that I've been meaning to do for a while.  Overalls on, head out to the toolshed and can't for the life of me find the part that I bought a while back for this very job, or can't find the tool I need. That sometimes even makes me say a naughty word. :x

The "ring pull" thingy. I had to ask a question about that several years ago. It holds the bottom of the driver's side headlight bulb cover in place.

Why doesn't that surprise me why on Earth isn't it the same as the passenger side weird

Is this the jobby?

Mine doesn't have one but maybe someone took it off and threw it in the bin.

Seems strange that it's there as the covers seem to fit the same on either side

Yeah that's it

So does that silver ring pull out?  It baffles me every time I change a headlight bulb.  It feels springy but non-removable?  So irritating losing half of the skin on my hand just to change a bulb because I can't remove the full plastic cover

Nope seems solid to what ever is on the other end. Was hoping someone who has replaced there headlights would post about it as I'm intrigued but not intrigued to take my car apart to find out

Think its fastened to the other end of the " On " button in the little cubbyhole     :notme:

This is what it looks like underneath guys. Nothing more that a spring clip to hold the back plate in place.

Why they just didn't create another lug I really don't know...

As shown above really... You pull back and push down on it to release. The U-ey part of it locates the bottom of the cover.
