They just Face Lifted the Polo in 2014 & the A1 now for 2015, is there a new Polo announced.?

 

One advatage the Fabia will have is that it will be a "current shape" for a few years whereas Volkswagen and Audi seems to reinvent their cars more frequently.

 

Obviously if I order a new Polo it maybe out of date by the end of the year? Seems 18 months from facelift to out of production is a very short life time for a car.

 

But does that really matter?

Not so sure on that really. & what will the latest Fabia be like in 7 years time, or even 5 years time.

The Fabia came out 1999,

Mk2 2007,

Mk2 Face Lift 2010,

 all new Fabia 3rd Generation on sale 2015.

the one thing that puzzles me,

 

how if the fabia 3 has not had to be type approved, how can they call it "the all new fabia" ?

Motoring Journalists just take the Skoda CZ Press Pack and write what is in there.

 

'Based on the new MQB Platform'  'Elements of the MQB Platform',

 Components from the MQB Platform'.

 

It is as though the MQB Platform is the bees knees.

 

It is a rehashed PQ25  - A05, Maybe there are new Components that have also been fitted to MQB Platforms,

  Just call it what they like,

 because all that matters is, does it Drive Well & Handle Well, and does it drive straight in the UK in Right Hand Drive.

 

215 Tyres as well,

maybe that has a lot to do with the better ride in the 'All New 3rd Generation Skoda Fabia'.

yes I keep forgetting about the tyres.. now 16" as standard on the SEL. bit of an upgrade from my 14" as standard on my Mk1 Elegance..

 

did anyone catch the exact tyre spec?  and cost per tyre?  I didn't want to go to 17" given the number of bloody potholes on the roads and motorways.. I was pleased that they were Dunlops mind you (Skoda seem to use Dunlop a lot) .. have had some good running with Dunlops over the last 12 years..

 

Oh and here are the new Polos for 2015 if you want to wait 6 months for your order.. the blue one is 230BHp btw.. it's a bit HHHHOOOOTTTT as they say!

The New Polo R has been reported as Cancelled.

 

The 2015 are not New Polos',  they are New Engines in the current Polo, no new Platform

 it a 1.8TSI Engine and choice of Manual or DSG for the Face Lift Polo GTI.

It is 190 bhp  (ish)

 

 

There is a 2014 Audi S1 2.0TFSI now with 231 bhp , plenty used on sale reduced.

1.2TSi 90/105 and 1.6TDi 90/105 had the same front brakes on the current model.

 

Only the 1.2HTP had smaller brakes allowing 14" wheels to be fitted.

The whole Euro zone is going to re-evaluating its production range over the next few weeks and month in the light of their currency collapse.

 

Imports, like of fuel priced in USDs, will be climbing rapidly taking the edge of the lower oil price in USD in the Euro Zone.

 

They will be looking to export cars to the UK and other non-Euro countries to earn non-Euro currency to bring back to Germany/CZ etc so they should be making what we want and at a better price, due to the improving GBP/EUR exhchange rate.

 

They are of course competing with the Japanese whose currency has fallen by about a third also hence the massive thousands of pounds off Japanaese cars in the last few weeks and months. 

 

Shame about the Polo R, great engine the 1.8 TSI, prefer to the 2 litre EA888 long stroke version.

 

Be interesting how much longer they will produce the 1.4 twincharge but the obvious answer is to put a slightly hot 1.4ACT versioned engine with 160-180 hp in the Audi, SEAT, Skoda and VW which woudl be nearly as good anyways with a few styling bits IMO but what the RRP would be is crazy.  We getting back to the situation where one should expect 10-20% of RRP.

yes I mentioned this in another post.. it's because they come from South Africa apparently.. bit of a joke really isn't it!?!?

But apparently they give you a website which you can go on to track the car during this time.

Nice little feature IMO.

Yep, that's why I only mentioned front brakes. ;)

Top Gear hates diesels anyway!!

They liked the Fabia 1 VRS I recall.

 

But some take in to account the way the two types of engines behave. Even for the same HP versions the petrol one almost invariably feel easier to drive ie more free revving and actually has better acceleration ie usually between half a second to a second quicker.

 

Add to that that, in the UK, in the opposite way to the continent, that diesel is about 4-9% more expensive to buy per litre, 5-10% more to buy the vehicle it all stacks up against the diesel model's desireability in the UK.

 

My main gripe with the petrol versions is, especially with Skoda, the prepencity to fit small sized fuel tanks, that for hjigh milers like me the filling the petrol car often every over day is a pain in the *ss.

Well I do mega miles.. so I don't care what Top Gear think of it.. I'm just counting down the days until I get my Mk3 now.. as with everything it's subjective - it's a personal thing.. some give a damn, others just want to get from A to B and don't give a hoot what car they drive, what it looks like or what others think.. as long as it does the job!

UPDATE: Sat inside my car today as it arrived at the dealer.  The brushed dashboard is a lot better than I was expecting, it's not that 'in yer face' as you see it on the car builder website.   I was quite pleased.  :D  I took a few snaps externally - it still had its protection on most of the car. 

 

Got my registration for it sorted.. it'll take some getting used to after 12.5 years in the Mk1.

 

Looked a bit sad in the large puddle of water but had two traffic cones behind it to keep people away, which was nice of them. 

 

Clearing out the Mk1 tomorrow and collecting the Mk3 on Monday.  Sad to see the Mk1 leave.. :'( seen a lot of places across the England, Wales and Scotland in it and over 222300+ miles now.. and probably another 100 or so by time I hand the keys over.  Hoping the Mk3 will be just as good a car for me..
