Featured Replies

Hi

Can anyone supply me with an update cd/DVD for an RNS 510 version A (5P0035680A)?

Willing to pay or supply blank for it.

Thanks in advance.

  • Right...   There's a setting to change the branding from Seat to Skoda or VW, so it's based on the same hardware. There's also a setting to disable the SD card. So I presume the Seat Media System is

Is that a unit fitted to the car originally? Or a later unit? If it is a later unit I don't think its a revision A despite the A in the part number (confusingly).

And I presume you mean firmware update?

Maybe take a photo of the label on it

Sent from my Galaxy S5

If part number ends in 'A' then I believe it's a revision 'C'.

Don't let that worry you; download a copy of 4020 (4120 if you really want radio text) from 'My GTi' website (I'll post links later) and burn that to a CD as slow as you can.

It won't allow me to upload pictures on this app. Stupid thing. Okay thanks mate. Think my laptop only goes as slow as x10 is that okay?

here is what i get from holding the setup button if i remeber correctly

No picture!  10x speed is probably is at the limit of as fast as you should go, and if you can't go lower, so be it I guess.  Make sure you verify the disc creation.

Dam I tried it on my work pc. Don't no why tapatalk won't let me when I have a email set up already. Okay hopefully KBPhoto will post a link for that one. Will that allow me to have 7 digit postcode? I don't think it will go lower. What's best CD burner to use?

I use imgburn (free) on the firmware which can be downloaded from www.rnsfirmware.com.  Pretty sure you can go for the 4120 with that part number, allowing 7 digit entry.

Okay will try downloading them. Perfect. Hopefully it works.

So download 4120 or 4020?

Personally I'd choose 4020.

But there's nothing wrong with 4120 except that maps newer than v.9 might not fit.

Okay I'm sure I've got v11 maps on mine at the mo but not the 7digit postcode which is annoying. Okay I'll get it downloaded over the weekend. How long does it take it install?

It appears to stall occasionally and other times the unit goes off and makes some odd noises. All normal but should complete within the hour.

56 minutes!

Perfect I'll try download it and see what happens. I'll need to re install sat nav data?

The maps? Yes.

It'll probably wipe out your music & POI's as well.

Don't have any on it as you need to take it apart to put music on it don't you?

Nooo! Who told you that????

Its as simple as copying to HDD from SD card.

I read it somewhere. How do you do it as don't think there a sd slot in the front?

Isn't there? I'm surprised as I thought it was just cosmetic differences between all RNS510 units. On the ones I have seen its always in the middle at the bottom.

Don't think so. I will check in the morning. That's why you need to take it apart. Wish I could upload pictures.

Just saw one the Seat one you have on eBay and everyday is a schoolday!! There is definitely no slot as you say. Seems strange though, why have a HDD if its not easily accessible??

Totally I can see what space is on it but can't access without having to break it down and scared incase damage or lose something.
