Discount, already?

Featured Replies

So i know the mk3 fabia is known to be quite expensive. Maybe abit too expensive, as are all skodas getting

I got a text today off lookers stockport (where my mk2's from) saying:

"New Fabia only £8999 - £3000 off list price, low monthly rate, at Lookers Stockport SKODA!"

Doesnt say spec but obviously base spec isnt it.

So maybe discounts are on the cards for all cars?

Seems abit soon though? Maybe the list prices are just so they can discount it?

I dno. Its of no interest to me really, but thought some of you guys might find it useful if looking to buy.

So I'll get my money's worth.

True, if you're happy with it then why get rid, if the Monte Estate had of been out when I ordered mine then that would've been a keeper.

I really want an estate now as my son's just about ready for a full size bike and wants to do road cycling with me so I need more room for gear. I want the roof rails as well so I can leave the bike racks on all of the time. If I can get a 1.2 TSI 110 estate then that will be a keeper.

Yeah sounds like a plan.

I've seen some hatches with roof racks on, but I've gotta say, i dont particularly like the look of how they fasten on. Looks abit scratchy scratchy to me haha.

Do we know when the estates due? Is it march?

Parents are lookin for a new car. I think a fabia estate would suit them grand.

Im gona try n test drive the 1.0 litre. I've a feeling its not gonna be anywhere near as good as the HTP, so i think a TSI might be necessary.

Bit like our local dealers "Scrap it for a Rapid" guarenteed £2,500.00 trade in value.

This however DOES NOT apparently apply to our Sons fully MOT'ed, 14 year old, low milage, but scruffy Seat Arosa, on 4 new tyres too boot.

Humph

Cos

2.5K off the 9.5K for the last of the run out Fabia II petrol models would have been quite acceptable .

Why does it not apply?

**conditions=small print, not detailed in the advert of course,

necessitating a ph call or email contact which results in a ph call back, from the chief sales-spider.

who issues that immortal phrase "Come in and talk to us!"

I recently drove a Polo and an up! with the 1.0 60PS engine. I found it really nippy around town and very quick to 30 or 40, but once you go onto a bigger road it feels very different and takes a while to get going - at least compared to the 1.2 HTP.

Personally I'd look at the 1.0 75PS (actually the only 1.0 available in the Estate) or 1.2 TSI if you regularly travel out of town.

I got my invite to be one of the first to drive the new cars. Next weekend. So that will be a week later than I have already driven one.

Interesting! Cheers!

The 1.0 litre 60 is the same as the 1.0 75 other than a map which makes the 75 keep pulling at higher revs. From what I've read, max power then becomes at the redline or slightly higher.

Mums not gonna be revving that much, so in usable revs its supposed to be exactly the same as the 60. So the 75 isnt worth the extra money.

Thats what I've perceived from the citigo's anyway.

Its hilly around here, so maybe the TSI is a must

I did the same but did all of them , up,mii, citigo, aygo and several to boot and eventually plumbed for the best option by far !

HYUNDAI i10 premium

Hyundai i10 is not in the same class of car as the Fabia, it's a city car not a supermini so will probably feel nippier than a heavier car anyway meaning it shouldn't really be compared.

Yup

Same as the polo. Not comparable to an i10

Well, I went to the local retail park to have a look at some cars today. First off the local dealer still hasnt got a Fabia 3 in their showroom.

But before that I went to have a look at the Polo. Well, that is one classy car. I was able to get a comfortable seating position with the steering wheel. Everything was solid and felt beautifully put together. Certainly "Soft touch plastics" I liked the variable boot floor. I told the salesman that I wasnt interested in the PCP finance and he replied that you only got the £1000 deposit contribution on the PCP. However and I quote "We are in the business of selling cars and I am sure we could sort something out......." Or words to that effect.

Which maybe means if I was serious he could knock something off? Delivery times for a Bluemotion and all 5 door Polos is 6 months as they are built in South Africa. Unless your spec is in stock?

Then went to see the Hyundai 120. Slightly underwelhemed especially when I couldnt get the bonnet shut after looking at the little engine. But was comfortable, felt quality but not in Polo league.

Corsa. Saw a mate of mine who is a mechanic with the Vauxhall dealer and said a 17% discount is possible. The New Corsa was pretty good as well and felt quality. However I felt the clutch pedal was too high for me and the tailgate is not square enough for my liking. Nobody asked if i was okay in the Vauxhall garage. But I prefered the New Corsa over the I20.

At the moment, the New Fabia has got to be pretty amazing to pull me out of a possible Polo.
