Supply to satnav

Featured Replies

Can someone please tell me which wire carries power to the radio on Octavia 2005 I need to test at multiplug  rear of radio.

Thank you.

I'm not sure there is an actual power supply to the head unit (as daft as that sounds).

Have  look at the pin allocations here...

There is also probably a pinout sticker on your headunit when you remove it.

What happened I fitted a Columbus which worked for a time then suddenly died on me

replaced the old radio which fails to work also. Checked radio fuse which is o.k. checked for voltage at multiplug get 12volts don't know what to try next. Wonder if a plug in computer job?

Please explain as you may have gathered I am not a techy.

As in there is normally a sticker on the top of the headunit that tells you the exact layout of the pins. From that you can figure out which are which on the mulitplug connected to the car.

I don't think connecting to a computer is going to be helpful in this instance, the headunit should have two power connections and a ground. On this sticker, in the main block of 16 pins, the two power connections are labeled + and safe, the ground connection is next to safe. I'd expect your headunit to be the same and it'll need power to both + and safe to turn on.

That's probably a good place to start if you have two headunits that refuse to turn on. I can pop over to have a look if you want as I'm pretty close to Ely, should be around tomorrow evening if you drop me a PM.

Thank You very much for your kind offer I.... and I would be delighted if you would take a look at my Satnav installation at your convenience. I am retired so if you can suggest a time I will be here. Alternatively I can drive to your house if it would be more convenient.

Best Regards,

Ken.

Suggest you take your address off here as a piblic website and send a personal message to Langers instead. Save a load of junk mail or potential ID fraud.

Silly mistake

Will a mod remove my last entry please

Thought it had been sent as a P.D.

I've left the post, but removed the address.

If you look in the bottom right of every post (assuming on computer) there is an edit button on your own posts.

Not sure on mobile or tapatalk.

Thanks a lot I made a stupid mistake I thought I was sending a P.D.

Much appreciated

Ken

Quick update, I had a look at the car tonight and there is no power to stereo from the harness. Checked the fuse in the engine bay which is good so all I can imagine is there is a break in the loom somewhere. Without a tone and probe I doubt I'm likely to find exactly where.

I've suggested running a new feed from the fusebox to power it the headunit.

Any other suggestions or ideas?
