2014 Skoda Octavia Scout towbar

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where I can get a towbar for the NEW Mk 3 Octavia Scout estate?

Skoda themselves?

At 1200 quid for non-factory fit? (on a vrs at least) i think not

Skoda don't have one yet...! and no-one else I have spoken to has designed one!

Westfalia supply towbars to Skoda UK, have you tried them direct?

I would have thought that the tow bar for the Scout is the same as for the ordinary car. What you might find though, is that the details for the bumper cut might not be easily available. At the moment the same towbar fits the Golf, A3, Leon and the Octavia.

That is not correct. The factory-fit tow bars are built by the Czech company Prof Svar.

Edited, hope that's OK for you.

thanks for your answers....the Scout is a little higher than the Octavia on bigger wheels, so the towbar would need to alter accordingly, I will try Westphalia tomorrow and get back to you all, it looks like we may have to wait awhile till somebody picks up on the need. :(

They might be waiting to get a doner car to do their measuring, so might offer you a deal.

No bar at Westphalia....we contacted PCT who said they might like a donor car, but they seem very reluctant to contact us.....maybe we will turn up on their doorstep with the car!

No joy, but thankyou. It seems there is no towbar made for our car yet! How daft is this situation!

How much higher is the scout than the regular model? I dont recall there being a vrs specific one (the vrs being lower than the standard spec cars). i don't understand why you can't fit the standard one to the scout. If it's simply the reverse situation of the vrs

EDIT : scratch that, the vrs has a separate part number on pf Jones site

The Scout is 30mm higher if I remember correct.

It's a strange situation when Skoda's own press video has footage of a scout towing a caravan. ( from 6:45 on ).

Surely the dealer can order a OEM one from the factory ?

Tow bar with adaptor - £550

Towbar preparation - £175

All the 3rd party companies wont develop one until the need / in time is there. ie.. once the car has been out for a good few months... same as all new models. (quicker with the common stuff.)

Also.. whats the current situation these days on the fan upgrades when towing? I know a few of the VAG stuff required it at one point.

Even has the right picture!

Right chaps.  The video does clearly show 'a' skoda pulling a caravan...but....the car shots minus caravan clearly show a car (apparently the same car) without a towbar...strange that!! However. we now can report that PCT of Sheffield are taking the matter in hand with Skoda, and seeking approval for a towbar for our car...watch this space.

I have a MkII Scout (as with the MkIII it has a raised ride height over the standard model) and the towbar fitted to my Scout is not unique to the Scout, it is compatible with all MkII Octavia estates.

I'd be surprised if this has changed for the MkIII.

Also I understand the latest factory fitted VAG towbars are the ones that fold away underneath the car and are released by pressing a button in the boot.

This might be why the same car in the press video appears to not have a towbar fitted when shown towing earlier - because the towbar is in the stored position out of view?

Manual version (pull a knob) on an Audi but I've seen a simple electric push button version too...

The OEM is a detactable hence why you wont see it in the solo car videos.

unfortunately whether or not the Mk111 is the same as the Mk11 is immaterial as it won't be legal without EC approval.  I agree it probably is the same but we cannot use it unless it has been passed firstly by Skoda and then EC. An annoying fact but there it is.  There is not yet a towbar anywhere that is made for the Mk 111. We had a detachable on our Mk11, but you would still see the fixing point under the rear bumper, it was never completely invisible.  If Skoda don't yet make a bar, and they don't, it isn't in the spec or extras list, only the preparation kit,  how could they possibly tow the caravan on a Mk111?!

Im quite sure a removable towbar is on the options list here in Norway.

And the dealers scout (mk3) had a towbar, unless my memory fails me yet again.

It is in the brochure as a £550 option on a Scout.

I don't recall anyone saying to fit a MkII towbar to a MkIII?
