Felicia 1.6 - Weird whine/hum after having caliper reconditioned

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm having yet another problem with my Felicia 1.6 GLXI  :'(

The nearside front caliper was sticking on, so I had a garage recondition it with a new piston, and all seems well (it doesn't pull to the left anywhere near as much as before).

Unfortunately there's now a weird electronic whine/hum coming from just behind the engine (but in front of the heater/ventilation intake). Oddly this starts as soon as you turn the key in the ignition, before you even start the engine. I've checked and the blower isn't on.

I've recorded the noise in the hope that you can help me out, if not then fair enough, these things can be hard to diagnose via the internet!

Well, that doesn't sound good!

Is that the sort of thing that's likely to go horribly wrong or can I just live with the whine?

Similar sound may come from the ABS unit. Disconnect battery overnight and reconnect in the morning.
