Octavia 3 vRS or Golf R?

Featured Replies

I followed up a few leasing offers

Look on central vehicle leasing. The Golf R is £222 per month inc vat.....

Hmmm.  I've followed up several good deals and once the operator has all of my details they have suddenly sold their lease allocation for that particular offer but are keen to offer me another great deal.  When I'm not interested in that, they kindly offer to keep me informed should the offer become available in future and continue to bombard me with calls about the second, worse offer.  I notice on that particular site that they also say "please be aware that prices may vary from those displayed".

Lets not forget that there is no road tax or maintenance to cover on the lease ;)

There can be both...there often is...

Not in the one I posted , I have no idea of ALL the leases available

But, you are ignoring my example between my car and a Golf R above :-

My £20-1/2K has a total cost for 2 years of £7408

The £35K golf has a total cost for 2 years of £8912

So the hair your spliting is worht less than 1504 quid or £752 p.a.

As I said, if they can do that deal with a bigger boot I'll have thank you very much.

You've lost me now. I was actually saying the Golf deal was not as good as many were quoting.

The original quote excluded the deposit, I merely pointed out to include all the costs for the term.

Leases & PCP are very different business models, & offer the consumer different choices, you need to be aware of the implications they represent.

I'm not quite sure what your point is, but I've often posted on here to make other members aware of deals / options available, but I also try to be factually aware, & not mislead anyone into deals that are too good to be true.

Back to topic and finances aside having had a mapped tsi mk2 for five years, which I loved I now have a Golf R and covered 6000 miles.

There is no question in drive handling and of course performance the Golf is an outright winner but they are very different.

The Golf boot is mini compared to the Skoda, fuel economy is about 4mpg less, back seat width is less for my 3 kids.

But activate launch control and experience the rush and worries about luggage space, economy or passenger comfort will be just a distant memory!

Thanks. You were in the same position as me then. I am very tempted but just love the looks of a Mk3 estate!

Now to convince the Mrs - "£30k just for a Golf" when I showed her one on autotrader...

Take her for a test drive, that will blow her mind, looking at the photo is 20%(approx.) of the reality. Go look at it in the flesh

I PX  my Octavia vRS TSI Estate for the   R.

Liked the vRS  for various reasons but living with the R is like being on another planet.

If you need space then vRS. but everything else there is no contest. Each to our own I guess.!
