or Hatchbag?

Seat covers?

Any other useful accessories?

Rubber mats : buy the Skoda ones, they fit properly and are very good.

Roof bars, Skoda or other? : personally the Skoda ones.

SD card : of course!

Mud flaps : definitely.

Boot liner : why? If you mean the large rubber mat that goes on the floor, it only fits without a spare wheel and I've never actually used it in 4 years; just bung a tarp down.

or Hatchbag? : see above

Seat covers? : why do you think you need them? Plus remember you have air bags in the seats so special ones are needed. I have one I should use when I'm out on rallies but have found that mud easily brushes off when dry.

I much prefer the rubber mats to carpets. Apart from dealing better with mud and wet they have a handy lip all the way round to help contain grit etc. off your shoes.

I've got the Thule roof bars and they seem fine for my needs. They are also a "universal" fitting so hopefully will transfer to my next car.

Mud flaps do seem to help with spray from the wheels cutting down on mud down the sides and were a cheap accessory.

Personally I like the wind deflectors which seem to cut down on wind noise but also means if the windows are down an inch or so when its raining it doesn't come in the car. I also like sunscreens for the rear passengers and the cargo area(for the dogs) although others feel they cut down visibility.

A boot liner is useful (again because of the dogs) but mine blocks out the light in the cargo area and also makes getting to the area under the boot floor more awkward, so a couple of things to think about.

And a spare wheel - whether to have one or not seems to split the forum into optimists and pessimists. (The former can be recognised as the ones standing at the side of the road holding an empty can of gunk in one hand and their mobile phone without a signal in the other.  but I'm still going to be in sooooo much trouble...)

Now personally, I would have put that the other way round:  the pessimists are the ones who think that a spare takes up too much boot space, is an unnecessary cost and so on, while the optimists are the ones who expect to be able to finish their journey.

Just a matter of opinion, of course, and I wouldn't argue with another member of the UK 16" Special Build Club, would I :giggle: ?  (But that puts me in sooooo much trouble, too!!!  Sorry lads - I'll put the lid straight back on the worm can... :notme: )

Llanigraham has raised a valid point not many seem to appreciate. The seats have airbags built in so if you must have seat covers buy the Skoda ones rather than ones from your corner motor accessory shop.

The must haves are mudflaps all round and the Skoda rubber mats as they are designed to fit properly. A neighbour put his RAV4 in for a service and the dealer removed the spurious mats as they were deemed to be a possible safety issue.

I might be missing something but I thought the SD card slot was standard?

The slot is standard, but you have to buy the card!  :dull:  :D

It is but the SC card for putting music etc. on is not.

Edit: Oops, too late :notme:

Thanks guys! I have plenty SD cards so I don't have to buy any more.

My Yeti car came with rubber mats, carpet mats (I should sell the carpets as they're useless), Skoda bars, dog guard, mudflaps, and a foot long Tamiya remote control radio aerial. I got a remap pronto, then I got a stubby aerial and boot mat from Superskoda. No need for any more stuff, but I do want/need better tyres, bigger brakes, stiffer rear anti roll bar, etc.

Boot Liner

Rubber Mats

Touch Up Paint (to match)

Nets (I never had any with the car)

3rd Party LONG rear mudflaps

How long a shopping list would you like?

I bought quite a lot of accessories for my car...

  • Carpet mats
  • Rubber mats
  • Rear tunnel rubber mat
  • Sill protectors
  • Boot load lip protector
  • Double-sided boot mat

Err no, Skoda do not have some global exclusivity for seat mounted airbags, lots of companies manufacture airbag compatible seat covers for lots of cars, just buy the right ones if you really need them.

You need to very carefully check where the air bag weak spots are on "spurious" seat covers.

They are not all in the same place.

I've had my L&K for 2 weeks now and have bought:-

Front skoda mudflaps from Superskoda - about £22 including shipping

Skoda rubber mats to replace the supplied carpets - about £30 from a Skoda dealer on eBay

Class 10 SD card (which is faster to browse your music), although not really required with Bluetooth connectivity

Reversible boot mat

I think they're a bit mean not to supply a warning triangle though....

Don't think I need anything else really

Front and rear mud flaps.

Thule roof bars - not as easy to fit as the Skoda ones, but wider and as such I find easier to strap timber etc down onto.

Rear bumper protector from http://www.rearguards.co.uk/ -  an excellent bit of kit.

Skoda supply carpet - that look good and seem to be wearing well, but might try some rubber ones for next winter if I see them cheap.

Reversible boot mat - looking for a hatchbag

Self fit 12v socket in dash top storage for use with satnav - best mod idea I have picked up on so far.

I agree with PaveyArk about the warning triangle. I got one "free" with my Tiguan. However VW charge about £1000 extra on all variants for the equivalent headlights which Skoda put in as standard on some models.

So I'm happy to pay about £4 on Amazon for the same triangle.

From time to time Aldi do an excellent "non-slip" bootmat for £6 or £7 which is exactly the right width for the Yeti, and just a touch too long front to back so it will cover the top of the bumper if you flip it out when required. Well worth the money.

EDIT

With excellent timing, Aldi are stocking a "Car Boot Mat" 100x120cm this coming Thursday at £4.99 each.

I assume it's the same as the one they've done previously, in which case it's an excellent fiver's worth!

With regards to the front mudflaps.

I personally wouldn't bother with the Skoda ones, they are too short to be of much use.

I can't remember where I got mine from, there was a discussion on here about them a while ago, but they are quite a bit longer and are much more effective at stopping stuff getting thrown up the sides of the car.

You can just about see them on the last pic in this post:

Occasionally Aldi/Lidl also do a non-slip mat, hard to describe but like a woven rubber mesh. I have used one of these for several years. When I take the rear seats out when camping I stack big plastic boxes in there place. This is great at keeping them from moving around. Downside could be the holes in it, but in this case it does not matter.

Also good for in the workshop when routing, sanding timber etc as again keeps it in place and it is a nice soft surface that does not damage your work.
