Looks like an interesting mod as I have keyless and electric boot but that doesn't really help when your hands are full as you still have to reach for either the remote or the button on the boot lid

Seriously, ive looked through and it looks relatively simple but can you shed any light on how biggest of a job it is?

The installation time is about 2h, i find it is not so difficulty.

Nice work - like the look of that upgrade. Seen it on a few cars now - my friend's 3-Series Touring has it as an option for example.

I think it is the same reason like coding the BCM or other things ( chiptuning) my Dealer has no problems with my retrofittings:

Rear View Camera , Memory Mirror on the right side, Easy Open and the Side Assist Plus, thats my hobby and i have a lot of fun

Do the sensors need to be horizontal or could they work vertically? If so, they could be drilled through the diffuser, leaving a much cleaner look...and they'd be a lot less prone to damage due to weather or a car wash.

The sensors are on the inside of the diffuser, I glued it to illustrate just outside, so you can see it. I have installed the trailer hitch, so I had the sensors above the other position. Tow bar can be installed horizontally as the two pencils with the tip of one another (5cm distance).

Camera: Exactly, I have this camera installed itself and fits into the new crop. This is simply clipped and holds a rock.

This camera has the rigid guidelines.

For the small section <KW36 this must be increased.

If the camera should have too much play, a holding plate (1T0 827 229A) can also be fitted.

Cable Kit: there all cables and pins are available. It must be connected only the mass and ignition plus be sought. (Rear wiper)

The main reason for the RFK was for me, I can see my Thule load carrier of the screen, with the big camera you can also see the great ball of the towing hook, ideal for maneuvering a trailer.

So I used a compressed air-driven body saw.

The original cutout 2x7,5cm, the new cutout 4,5x10,5cm.

The new excerpt is preserved with anti-rust paint and then with cavity wax.

Here the pin assignment of the blue quadlock plug.

There hangs in the rest of the turn and the micro handsfree.



On the blue plug the numbers 1-12 stand on it, then you can depend on.

On the tailgate the fairing has to be solved to the torx screws must be loosened at the door handle.

The panel is fully clipped.
Caution is advised when an electric tailgate, there must be only the side where the button sticks carefully be unclipped and disconnecting the plug, otherwise one pulls the cable.

The bellows is required to move to the right side of the Fakrakabel from the tailgate to the D-pillar.

The old button is unclipped from the inside and replaced with the new button with the camera.

I had brought my power from rear wiper, as the colors of the cable may vary, includes the red and yellow wire to pin 1 of the rear wiper motor (terminal 15) the black or brown wire to either pin 4 of the motor or a screw which contact with the vehicle mass has (Lug use).

The Fakrakabel (video signal) with a pull-through wire pass through the tailgate and the D-pillar trim solve (clipped).

Then disconnect the cable from the outside to the inside and between D and C pillar on the headliner move (just a little can be pulled down.


Watch on the C-pillar! there are head airbags, so do not put the cable just enjoy it.





From the C column down to the foot area, there lay the cable under the seal of the plastic panel to the body, there is enough space.

The cable then run on the baseboard to the glove compartment.

The strips are glued to the carpet, so it is mingled with a bit tricky.


It is great from the passenger foot area in the back of the glove compartment.

The lid of the glove compartment can be resolved to help, this is also clipped to better lead to the cable in the glove compartment.

Finally, the STG 5F must be coded: STG 5F Byte 19 Bit 4 to 1

is Important: If you test the whole, the tailgate must be closed !! When the door is open, the Columbus has no video.

I think its better you install the cable on the left side but its the same procedure.
