  • @farokinha DIY for the Camera Did you again made a summary. Thus you can save money and have everything you need. Camera: Exactly, I have this camera installed itself and fits into the new crop.

  • With a question like that, and before I watched the link, I hoped whatever it was involved flames.... lots of flames....

  • I wanted folding mirrors so I could see from a distance if I locked the car or not. Well, black mirrors look pretty much the same, folded or not so I put a bright red sticker which can be seen on

Value of a can be "0" or "1"

Unticked means "0" and ticked is "1"

So tick bit 4. This is how you set it to "1"

If you are a newbie to VCDS save your original config first!

I still do not understand what Bit 4 to 1 means,

means that bit 1,2,3,4 is ticked or bit 1 and 4 is ticked ??

thanks

No and no.

code STG 5F Byte 19 Bit 4 to 1 = code bit 4 to 1 = (change the value of bit 4 from "0" to "1") = tick only bit 4

Hopefully you understand now :)

It is a good job @aronpr is only playing with VCDS and not VCP!

thanks so much for this

The system controls the brightness of the bulbs with 12 V impulses (with fast switching On/Off or something like that).

So the bulbs never get pure 12 V but they get impulses. The camera will go crazy because of the impulses.

If you recode the reverse lights to LED they will get pure 12 V (or maybe a little bit higher). It's okay for powering the camera.

Hello Aki78,

You use the same channel from the license plates lights to code the rear lights?

Because my camera is OK with the engine stopped, but when it´s on the image get´s crazy.

Hi,

If you connected the power line of your camera to the reverse lights (like me) you have to code them to LED.

(It's not a problem if you have the regular bulbs in them.)

I can't check my log file now but look for theese channels on Controller 09, (Security code: 31347), Adaptations:

"Leuchte28RFL LC11" and "Leuchte29RFL RA64". These are the reverse lights (left and right).

Verify me and check the value of "Lichtfunktion A" on both channels. If they set to "revese light" or somethink like that you are at the right place.

Now change the value of "Lasttyp" on both channels to "43 - allgemeine LED".

After that your reverse lights will get pure DC voltage and you can feed your camera from one of them.

In theory you don't have to recode both left and right reverse lights but the brightness can slightly change after coding to LED so recode both of them.

You can also check the "Dimmwert AB" values. If they set to "100" then set it lower, to "89".

I have measured 12.01 V with "89" and 12.98 V with "100". ~13 V is a little bit too much for the halogens, they will burn out earlier.

Good luck :)

If you don't know what I am talking about just let me know and I will help you with a step-by-step coding instruction later.

Worked!

Thank you so much :-)

Kind of wish I had ticked the option for the camera now lol

Farokinha - I want to do this can you confirm if the wiring plugs into the skoda head unit or did you have to modify the wiring? If so what mods are needed? Thanks

On my car that frame turns transparent after a second or two.

Same here.

how can I take this black frame is behind the car ?

Check post #33 by Trust2K. You probably have an older (<0435) firmware on your headunit.

I am a lucky guy as I have 0435. I have a transparent background which hides automatically in a few seconds:

Can't you hide manually the dark background by touching the small triangle icon?

i can hide manually the dark background by touching the small triangle icon yet it's exhausting having always do.

this software is old or hardware ?

Can I do anything to have this better?

Just refreshing this topic, please look at this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Neu-Original-VW-Audi-Seat-Skoda-Ruckfahrkamera-mit-Waschfunktion-5TA827566B-MIB-/272081744631?hash=item3f5955f2f7:g:GOgAAOSwJcZWdP3f

This camera has an option for washing. So if You have rear wiper it's just possible to connect it to the rear washer jet.

Another solution - in case somebody wants to retrofit chinese clone, this is OEM shield to put the clone inside:

I just wanted to confirm that the  mib2 bolero unit supports reverse camera.

I did not fit one yet, but tested with a handy cam and video is displayed.

Anybody knows if there is an option to display the video from the camera while driving forward ?

If i press park assist button i can see OPS data, but the button for the camera is grayed out.

Anyone else done this recently ? Seems some confusing array of part numbers and prices. I don't think I'd want to rush into this myself.

Would this (the camera anyway) work. The part code looks different for camera but looks no different.

Maybe the loom could be adjusted to suite also I think that is less critical, looks like just a job trimming off the connector and working out which wire goes where.

But I'd be worred about different in terms of RGB vs composite etc, the skoda one is meant to be static lines only, what is this. Has anyone tried anything like this.

Thanks to all contributors, have just coded the MIB and added a female RCA connector for the camera in, tested with an external video source and it is all OK

just got to wait for the camera to arive from China
