  • Good news! The car is back together and running as it should!! Just waiting for a couple of clips and should be good to go tomorrow! Dreading the bill!

  • Picked it up this afternoon. YAY its working! It's an absolute hoot to drive. I've been and given it a proper good jet wash just so I could see the paintwork/body a bit better as it was pretty grubby.

  • Finally...a picture!!

Okay, so its here. Specs:-

- 2006 Smart ForFour Brabus

- 1.5 Turbo Petrol

- Silver with Silver Tridion Safety Cell

- 6 Speaker stereo with Bose underseat subwoofer

Upgrades

- Custom Remap

- Pipercross panel filter

- Replacement uprated manifold

- Custom exhaust whilst keeping original Brabus Tip

- 17" Alloys with extra width at the back. Widened rear arches to accomodate

- Colt CZT High Bolster front seats retrimmed for this Brabus

- Kenwood Double Din DAB/DVD/Bluetooth/Nav

Driven back from the dealer I bought it from was amazing. Down the motorways, it really comes alive. Acceleration is brutal...honestly never had anything with such a shove. Even in 5th (top) gear it just goes and goes and goes....

Its more than I ever imagined it would be...I'm smitten :)

Only photo I've got so far haha.

A niggly fault when I picked it up was that the drivers seat doesn't seem to slide all the way forwards. Seems to be catching. Having done some digging, it appears that the replacement CZT seats are a tad different and have an additional mechanism underneath as the CZT is only a 3 door so requires the seat to be able to tilt. As such it may well be catching on the CD changer/Subwoofer under the seat. How to guide suggests it needs some washers to boost it up a tad. Seat out job...hmmmm

Couple of jobs to do on my to-do list.

- Sort out front seats so can move freely.

- Remove CD Changer (fixes above issue)

- Upgrade speakers and Sub. Underseat currently fitted not enough and speakers not quite to my taste.

- Full LED upgrade. Using a guy I know for this. Is going to try and do everything apart from headlights.

- Full clean and polish (Priority)

- Trim fix. Caught some plastic behind rear passenger seat and have scratched/made a hole. Hoping it can be fixed or trim will have to be replaced.

- Learn how to use stereo. Connected iPad and music is playing but no sound. Stereo says its playing..possibly connectivity issue using lightning cable.

A few minor jobs on what is a fantastically fun, well sorted car. Its point and shoot attitude is just smiles per mile and the looks it gets is fantastic. Driving home last night there was an M3 behind me. We didn't race but he was surprised when I pulled off from a roundabout onto a duel carriageway. Pulled off at a petrol station and he was asking me questions about it...was surprised how nippy it was.

I had a similar issue like this with a parrot kit. Needed to turn the volume up on the iPhone!

Sourcing a racing clutch by the looks of things as the standard job can't handle the power it's now putting out!

Looks like the Optima is leaving and making way for something far more suited to the forum.

Quick update. I still have the ForFour Brabus. Had its first MOT with me and it passed with only one advisory that there is a chip in the windscreen which I was adamant it would fail on!

A great little car. Always puts a smile on my face. Needs a service and a bit of TLC but that will come once I'm back from my holidays!

Been driving the Brabus a bit more in recent weeks. It's such a fun little car but it gets next to no use. Bought on 43k in July 16 and now only has 48k on it. It just sits outside the house. Maybe time to move it on.

Maybe a for sale thread is coming then? Rare little cars

Maybe. Prices have plummeted though now I've looked so might just keep hold of it.

A new addition to the fleet next Friday. Unfortunately not a Skoda so it will have to live here with the Brabus :)

What did you get Chris?

I have got a Jaguar XJ L Portfolio which has its own separate thread :)

The Brabus is still sitting here silently. Really should decide what to do with it as it's not being used :(

SOunds lovely! I will look up your other thread then!

Do you think you will end up selling the Brabus?

I think I'm going to have to. I've had it 2 years in July and put about 5k miles on it in that time.

It owes me quite a bit of money though so unless I get a sensible offer it will probably stay with me as a sunny day car. It is a hoot to drive and the noise is so addictive.

That makes sense. What sort of money would it command?

Quick update, Brabus has just done over 51k now. Just had it's MOT and it passed with just 2 advisories that the 2 rear tyres are cracking.

I need to really work on moving it on as it just isn't being used. I love it though, in 2 years of ownership it's never let me down and it puts a smile on my face everytime!

Think it's time for a new project with changing circumstances....really need to get the Brabus sold.

It's up for sale now. Needs to go. New car imminent!

So the Smart has now gone. It failed it's MOT needing rear tyres and brake pads. It's gone to a good home though so it's not the end of it!

Onwards. Something new coming soon!
